OBP-1 + passive tone, very nice.

I have a PJ with 2 volumes and a tone. Does the preamp replace the tone knob found on passive basses? Or does it work with the existing tone knob? (if it did, I would have to have a stacked volume pot, a stacked preamp pot, the tone pot, and some other pot\switch to turn the preamp on

One last question wiring question for the obp1:

concentric\stacked volume pots (500k)
concentric\stacked 25k bass\treble pots (25k)
Push\pull tone pot 500k (pull to turn obp1 on. push to turn it off. turn the knob to adjust the tone like a normal passive bass)

I was thinking about wiring my Modulus VJ like this:
Volume
Panpot
Bass/Treble [concentric]
Passive tone [push/pull]

I don't know anything about preamps, I don't know if it would damage the original preamped sound, I don't know weather or not my electronic works good in passive mode...
But, since it's a reversible operation, I'll give it a try... when I'll have some money!

I don't think I've seen a dual concentric audio taper 50K w/o center detent.

all depends on the sound you're going for. Carey himself will tell you he tends to favor the warmer alder body type sound.

I bought a Sadowsky preamp a couple of months back and while I love it I must say that it did not come prewired at all contrary to Roger sadowsky's post here.I would have liked it more if it did.I even ordered the control plate and explained to the tech at Sadowsky exactly how I wanted to wire it,but still all the stuff came loose in the box and nothing was prewired.
Would I buy it again?I don't know.I have bought an OBP1 for less than half of what the Sadowsky cost.It has the same frequency centers as the Sadowsky so I'll find out when I put it into my other bass how similar it is.
