Obscure bass amps...

I used to rock a Seymour Duncan Bi-amp 8000, have not seen one before, or since

I have been using a 1972 hiwatt custom 100 pa head for years dont need another amp this one has awsome tone and it has 6 channels ,run it through a ampeg svt 410 cab.

Never owned one (thank God!) but man this Randall had to be THE WORST bass amp in the world! Played through it in a rehearsal once.

Gibson Les Paul bass amp, in 1972/73.

Oversized 2*15 cab, with a little pimple on top. The pimple was a preamp, with coloured pea bulbs behind a Perspex control plate. 200 watt solid-state power amp in the bottom of the cab. Blue/silver tinsel grille cloth.

Way ahead of it's time, was supposed to be the companion piece to the big Les Paul guitar amp, which was also fairly spacey, with mixed speaker sizes in a huge cab. 10's, 12's and 15's, IIRC?

I don't know what the guitar amp was like, but the bass amp STANK. Crushingly loud, but it had no mids or top end. Sounded like playing under water. With a 200w amp (big numbers back then) in the bottom, the cab was heavier than an SVT 8*10. To add insult to injury, the preamp didn't have enough drive to be used as a front end for anything else.

I couldn't understand how I got it so cheap ($250 from the delete bin at the Canadian Gibson distributor), until I'd had it a few months. Then all became clear...

Oliver PowerFlex my first band's guitarist's amp which when he got another amp, I used as a bass amp.
the dang head would retract into the cabinet I thought at first "What a gimmick" and never took the amp seriously until I plugged my bass into it and the ease of moving one piece instead of two well,... Mom's station wagon liked that !

I don't have this anymore, but here's some pictures to show what the head lights up as. The light up front was the coolest part, I regret selling this head.

The one with the slant face and 2 channels ?? I had one of those, 4 knobs per channel and loud !! The band guys called it the Dyna Sour I had a home made cab under it that had a "Norge" brand badge I found at the junk yard .....

Wasn't there a Refrigerator appliance brand named Norge ?

I saw this oddity while browsing at a local music store...

Never seen anything like it, but I thought it was ironic how it's labeled a "Tube Bass Amp" and right below the name says "solid state electronics" -- but I guess "Tube" refers to the shape, in this case.

I've seen a couple of those Acoustic Tuned Tube pop up on ebay over the years, and always thought them an interesting concept.

It's a 212, with a driver at each end of a tubular chamber in the middle.

My guitarist is using my Peavey now, but I got this Regal RE160B combo for $60 awhile back. Made in the 50's or 60's, 50 watts, SS, single sealed 15". Its currently not working but I want to get it back up and running. It has some great SS breakup when cranked.

Now I'm using the cab for my Yamaha B100 MK1 I got for $80.

Led Zeppelin 1969 Fillmore West...

Jimmy Page and JPJ both had 3 I was 10 feet from the stage.... Taj Mahal opened, then LZ then Country Joe (we went for apples even though he had Jack Cassidy on Bass) and the Fish and then all three again..... 6 sets !!! Zeps 1st album plus "For Your Love" as an encore.....

Beats me what those sound like, but they are weird enough that I would spend a bit of money to buy one that works. Not a lot, of course, because they probably don't sound great, but anything that odd is worth putting up with.

Picked this ol' boy up for $80 a couple years ago. Univox something or other, and made in the USA. No model number or anything. Figure it's 60s but who knows. 25W solid state 1x15... Cool little practice amp and guitar sounds mighty fine through it as well.

Used to have one of those. The boy used to use it as a guitar practice amp in his room.
