Observations of a first time rig builder

Thanks for the clarification. I guess I figured that the depth would add to the amount of air being pushed. Kind of like a dish versus a cup with the same radius, the cup would obviously throw the most water. But I guess that's not the case with speakers.

Apples and oranges. Here's a simple graphic to illustrate three shapes in motion:

Kinda lame... But if you track 5 pts on each shape as they move an equal distance, this is (sort of) how it would look. The dashes represent displaced air.
