Sorry, been extra busy today. Wasn't trying to make a post and then disappear. It's not that I think it's worth any great money or anything. It's just in such nice condition and octaves are probably my favorite effect on bass. Maybe I should look at it as I saved it from a purgatory of never making a sound.

You seem to have found one of the Holy Grail versions of this pedal, so it'd definitely be a shame for it not to be making its awesome sounds!

I honestly usually just yank off the rubber with the label and put velcro/dual lock on the bare metal. I keep the rubber/label and if I ever sell it include it.
Sometimes Boss pedal backs can be flipped inside out, sometimes the rubber is a little too thick for it to sit inside out. If yours is capable of that, then you can put your velcro/dual lock on the other side and just clean it off if you ever want to get rid of it.
If you want to preserve the backplate and rubber/label altogether, you can buy a spare backplate, or do the same thing (yank the rubber/add velcro/dual lock) from a Boss pedal you aren't using, put the OC-2 backplate on that one, and just put a piece of masking tape on the inside that says what pedal it's from.

I would definitely use it, but taking it out - personally, I might want another pedal for live use (depends how much you play out)

But then again, I had an old OC-2 bought in the '80s, and had it disappear DURING a gig in Cambridge - Celebration I think the place was called. Should have been using it instead of leaving it in my crate! Wait, ...

I did the flip the baseplate and put velcro on it thing, but might look at those extra plates @Stranger Danger mentioned.
Always meant to order a few spare baseplates but never got round to it.

you can make another plate.. buy a plate.. flip the plate.. any will work..
a metal plate is nice but a tall wood block may be the best.. as you can control the pedal height

From my experience, the tracking of the original OC-2 is very good even in the lower register of the bass compare to the most recent versions.

Ordered a bottom plate for it and I'll add it to my pedalboard with a Noble and Cali76 big box, so it will be in good company. I usually don't keep the box for pedals, but I'll keep this one.
