Octave up pedal

Not sure about Octaver pedals... I had a Boss one years ago...

BUT....you have to check out the bass player Scott Henderson has on his new album, "People Mover"...

Woah !... He has great solos on the record and one he does on a song called "Syringe" with an octave pedal (and a bit of dirt) that sounds incredible.

I'd post it but Scott doesn't let people post his stuff on Youtube... rightly so..

Check out the EHX HOG. I love mine. Individual sliders for four upper octave voices, plus two octaves of fifths and a high major third. It also has two octaves down, but those aren't great - I only find them useful mixed in low when I'm playing in the upper register. It sounds organ-like and chirpy/warbly, which I enjoy, and it can do a lot of extra stuff which you may or may not need. The "spectral gate" feature can function as a high-end rolloff with the right settings.

It has a few drawbacks - expensive, large footprint, non-standard center-positive power supply, takes some time and judicious fine adjustment to get the most out of it. The upper voices it produces on the lowest notes don't sound great on either of my basses. It responds best to really solid intonation and even playing.

Any suggestions for pedals that do octaves and/or harmonizing notes (3rds, 5ths, etc)?

Special Consideration: this would be used with a bass down-tuned to ADGC (WIP). Imo this would sound better than tuning up to ADGC and using octave down pedals. The low low notes bordering the range of human hearing just sound better when produced naturally rather than digitally. Plus I plan on using the low end more frequently than octaving up kinda deal, so I would rather not have to rely on a digital replication.

For octave up, I use a T-rex Octavius. It helps me get an "8-string bass" sound with my four string bass.

I've looked up videos for all the suggestions, and I'm not quite sold on anything.

Most reviews go heavier into the octave down side of things, and the octave up is usually showcased alongside the octave down or on the higher notes of a standard-tuned bass. I've finally decided my primary purpose of looking for octave up (not so much interested in 3rds, 5ths, etc anymore) is to simply turn my whole bass up an octave to being up-tuned ADGC instead of down-tuned ADGC from standard. It would also be nice to blend between how much dry and wet signal though. I've been having trouble even finding a 5string bass playing through an octave up pedal, so I probably have to try them out in a music store to test the pitches I'd actually be playing.

I've never thought of making my own pedal. Sounds fun. I can pretty much solder, but I can't solder much pretty.

Scott is the guitarist, he's a legend. Looks like Romain Labaye played bass on it, he's a monster.
