Octave up?

I dug around on here, and it seems that if I want an octave up, the pog is my only option. I play in C and have absolutely no use for a sub octave. I just want it to fatten up certain passages.

Any ideas?

What's your budget? A used microPOG would likely be your cheapest option. And do you want just one octave up? Or two? How many options do you want?

If you are willing for the octave up to be "dirty" (distortion-like), there are many, many octave up options. The selection is only limited if you want the octave up to be more of a clean tone.

If you don't mind some grit, the Fender Blender does octave up with fuzz. It also has a clean boost. I love mine.

You don't say how you arrived at the conclusion that an octavizer is the way to fatten up your tone on demand. Have you explored other options?

Your bass is already producing harmonics at those higher octaves, so another option is to emphasize the ones you have, as opposed to artifically generating new ones. EQ and drive settings and pedals can kick-in those higher freqs to boost and punch for dynamic effect. (A twiddle of the mid knob on my active basses does a lot of that with very little effort.) If what you want is a "lead" tone, you're not going to be happy with an octavizer chasing your fundamental note.

The 'MI Audio Pollyanna Octave' has an analog +1 octave, as well as -1 and -2, a tone knob and a blend. It's MXR Phase90-sized, sounds great, and well made!

I use FoxRox Octron. It's clean octave down and/or dirty octave up.

All these sound pretty cool. I'll just have to ignore the crappy playing/crappy tone on a lot of the sound clips.

DeluxeRed, while I can appreciate where you're coming from, your solutions seem very subtle. I need something completely over the top, as there is nothing subtle about my playing or my band.
