Perhaps a more unique distortion tone is in order. I suggest an Effector 13 pedal of some sort running through a big muff. On their own, E13 pedals can be nautiously intense, but the muff brings it back to earth and adds a layer of bassiness. When I need a rediculously huge distortion sound, I use an E13 Soda Meiser running into a US Big Muff, then through a clean, scoopy, boosting Sansamp. Heres a clip of my setup at its utterly filthiest (when you put the volume to near 0 on the soda meiser, it kills almost all of the attack and puts nasty feedback between your notes. Its deliciously disgusting!)

Halfway through I disengage the Muff, hence the drop in bassiness. You can make it sound a less nasty, though its pretty much filthy as all hell all the time. You can always disengage the SM for a more traditional tone.
