I have and love my Pork & Pickle, but it doesn't seem to play well with active EMGs. Anyone have a suggestion for an OD w/ clean blend that does? Alternatively, is there a way to modify a Pork & Pickle to make it active-friendly?

OD w/ clean blend that plays well with active pickups

You've got 4 internal trim pots which manipulate the OD character...that would be my first path.
If truly unmanageable, I'd be leaning towards something along the lines of a BDDI. Cheap thrills: I use a gifted (free) Sonicake B Factory as an always-on OD as it sounds really good even at lower OD levels / blend 50/50.

In what way is it not active friendly? There shouldn't really be any reason why ACTIVE pickups would inherently not work with a pedal (especially because the signal the pedal receives isn’t any different from passive pickups with an active preamp), but if you don’t like the way they sound together, then that’s just a preference thing.
If you can elaborate on what you don’t like about the combo, then you’ll probably get more helpful suggestions. Otherwise you’ll just get suggestions for whatever pedals people like and have used with an active bass which could literally be any pedal.

Bass Big Muff Deluxe?
I had the original Bass Big Muff and modded it with the master vol pot install. Then later EHX came out with the Deluxe that has that.

It sounds fizzy and kind of disassociated with the tone of the instrument.
Good idea! Although a little tougher to dial in on the fly, switching between clean/dirty
I'd just leave the bass volume attenuated all the time, an added benefit is that you can set it so that you don't need to adjust pedal settings when moving between active and passive basses.

When I have an OD or Distortion pedal that seems unruly, I use one of my Boss LS-2 set to A+B mix/ Bypass in order to set the dry vs pedal levels to taste.

Yeah I’ve thought about it but I’d like to keep the pedal setup simple and compact. I almost never bring more than one electric to a gig, so I’ll probably just end up dialing it in for active/passive depending on what I have in the gig bag.
Have you tried the original Pork Loin? To me, the P+P, just in general, sounds fizzy and disjointed- whereas the PL is very cohesive and just growls! i haven't tried it with an active bass, but i you like the pork, id say go straight to the source.
Maybe you want to give the Origin DCX Bass a spin. No clean blend, but when you try it, you will notice that you don't want or need a clean blend when the pedal is done right.

I haven't, but now that you mention it, I never use the fuzz circuit. So maybe I should give that a try!
Probably would! But man, those are pricey. I'm gonna futz with the P&P to see if I can get it sounding right and go from there. On gigs it's almost always used in the context of another distorted guitar, so I don't really notice the tone as much.
I'll be on the lookout for a used VMT on here though!
Oof, didn't realize that's what the prices were these days, or that the used prices were that high. They should pop up here occasionally at better prices, at least. Mine is my longest-tenured pedal, got it when it first came out, I think 13-14 years ago.
The original Pork and Pickle does have the same headroom issues though, just to warn you. The voicing is a bit darker, but you can EQ the PnP to be close to identical IMO.
18V does indeed solve the problem. I believe the EMGs were overloading the input on the P&P. Thanks for the tip!
