Odd question: strap color

Black. However this is from a guy who has one of the ugliest straps on earth and I still use it on gigs. Why, because it's comfortable and easily adjustable. I have other more expensive straps that don't even compare to this one. I say function over form anyday

Well you know it's kind of like this. For so many years, the bass player has been treated like the red headed step child such that that when we get a chance to express ourselves, we can't help ourselves.

This one

I use Couch brand straps on all my basses and guitars. If you are vegan/vegetarian there is the added plus that they are non-leather. If you aren't there is the added plus that they look excellent. Most of their stuff is made from deadstock/vintage car seat materials. So when they say 80's Mercedes, you are getting the interior material that would be period correct for a Hart Vs Hart remake. But as a guitar strap.

I wear obnoxious tie dyes(sorta matches) and my strap actually does match my shoes.I have purple suede lakais and black etnies with purple laces. it was one of those thing where I'd pull out the bass and people would be like:D and then I'd put the strap on it and people would be like:eyebrow::rollno: I got a lot of strange looks for that strap but I didn't care,it was purple.

Depends on the tone you are looking for. Leather has a nice smooth warm tone and glove leather is especially nice, but suede has a soft fuzzyness to it that can't be beat. I'd stay away from nylon, neoprene and those other materials, they just sound too synthetic.

I have an Ernie Ball rainbow strap that I have had for years, I have actually seen a ton of people own. I have worn the rainbow strap from sunburst, to dragonburst, from black to natural wood.

I also have no fashion sense/taste or care too.

I owned and used the strap for over 5 years before I had somebody ask me if I was gay... it honestly never crossed my mind and I still use the strap to this day, but now I do occasionally wonder if people think I am gay because of it... gay people can wear normal colours without being asked if they are straight I demand equality! haha.

Long story short, I don't think strap colour matter as much to me as it does to some folks, as long as the strap is comfortable. rock it!

yeah, well some vegan/vegetarians don't like to use leather products. It's teh kind of thing you wouldnt notice unless you dont like leather, but pretty much all guitar straps are either made of leather or have leather bits at the ends where it touches the instrument.

But seriously, check out the couch site. They make some pretty styling wallets and ipad covers too.

I have a Couch "Racer X" strap (brown with orange stripe) on my '59 burst, with Gotoh strap locks. It's very comfortable and sharp looking. The Racer X and "I am 8 bit" straps (from Couch's artist series) have black plastic adjusting loop (where their other straps have metal adjusting loops).

Also, with strap locks on the bass, my leather strap could not be length adjusted (where the Couch one can be). I wondered if I'd see any scuffing on my bass from the loop or the rivets but have not with Racer X. Calaverasgrande, have you had any issues with metal loop on strap end (contacting bass?)

use the one you feel more comfortable playing...
so far i've used those: fender logo straps with fake leather (i hate that stuff, my neck was all red from the scratches, and you cant wear it without a shirt); red and black nylon strap the thin ones, that's fine but when you play a heavy bass it hurts a bit (a similar one is in use now for the acoustic bass); a thick black nylon strap (i love it) i use it at the moment; and an olive green whit some holes that are covered with metal, rivets (? i think they are called that way, this one) and i like it


p.s. but if you insist i would go whit the black :)
