And this was in a dive rock club where people hardly ever danced.

I'd never heard of her before, and her and the band were absolutely first rate, fabulous.

Heavy rocked-up version of "Blister in the Sun." Works on several levels-simple chord change and catchy melody work for the clueless, heavy arrangement works for the rockers in the crowd, and those hipsters in-the-know feel special

Also, for whatever reason, "London Homesick Blues" by Gary P. Nunn. This works even outside of Texas, and even if it's not a country-friendly crowd. Be sure to sing the chorus many times over at the end so that everyone can sing along. Wait till they're good and drunk.

If you are referring to the song I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles) by The Proclaimers, that is one of the biggest songs with the crowds we play for no matter where or what age. Everybody sings along.

Shout (Isley Brothers) always seems to fill the dance floor for us.
Pink Cadillac (a Bruce Springsteen/Jerry Lee Lewis hybrid version) was a surprise, but people sang along and danced.

Sang that last week - my 13 year old son and I always fight over who get's to sing this. Crowd always loves this song!

"Hashpipe" by Weezer. We do mostly classic rock covers and our sound guy talked us into trying it. I must admit that none of us were really Weezer fans but this song kills. Catchy beat and very danceable song. The lyrics are a bit strange.
