While I agree with you that the bottom line seems to be all that matters, I wouldn't say that that fact is anything positive. Totally the opposite, actually... unrestrained capitalism (like the kind that leads to abusive third world sweatshops) is at least as evil as communism is, and the only thing that will come of it when all is said and done is massive amounts of wealth polarization.. the rich will get richer and the poor can "eat cake", so to speak.
Walmart is Like a Snake waiting to bite... The whole idea is that they move into a Small town (Thats how it started) and Drove all the "Mom and Pop" stores out of buisiness, and Hike up the prices to rediculous amounts... They have the paper work to say, In..... Mississippy, that in a Town of 5,000 people 90% buy from walmart.... PRICE HIKE!

walmart represents everything that is bad and evil in this world. yes i work there. sometimes i wonder why, as in every moment im there.
Why waste time worrying about it unless it's your job, or has affected you greatly? I'm sure as hell not losing any sleep over WalMart's practices, nor do I concern myself with the amount of customers they get. But then again, if you have nothing else better to do...Jarrod said:

first off, wal mart is a business and has every right to decide what they do and do not carry. second, it drives me nuts that people purchase their music at wal mart. i know that the prices are low bla blah blah...but how about supporting a local record store? it might cost you a few extra bucks but at least it's going to a small business that could use your greenbacks.
most of america lives in the sticks, where the local walmart is the only place to buy music. that is why walmart is the largest music retailer in the country.

i grew up in a small town. when wal mart came in, the local record shop was closed in six months. they were doing an incredible business before that. all the folks who worked there were very helpful, they would order anything for you, they would carry cd's by local bands (usually losing a little money in the process).... basicly, they would go out of their way to help you. wally world took away their bread and butter. without the sales of major label albums, they just had to fold up. the community lost what i consider a large resource. i could see the effect it had on local musicians, music promoters, etc. walmart disgusts me.
What about the impact on other people? Did unemployment go down? Did people have more spending money because their basic goods were cheaper? I wouldn't think a local musician would make much bread working in a small town- probably has a day job at somewhere like... Walmart?3 crotch grabs said:

Wouldn't know, I've never used them. I usually order from the band's website or whoever they refer people to, and Amazon has never been mentioned. So you're probably right in saying that Amazon is like Wal-Mart and only carries certain cds. (nothing I listen to)
