Hey, you guys, nobody has posted on here since last May??? What gives?

This seems like a fun group but not very active, so I cordially invite you all over to the Bass Player's Low Down Lowdown (Bass Player magazine forum) at musicplayer.com. You don't have to be an old fart to participate, but that seems to be the general makeup over there. They're a really good bunch of guys with loads of experience, great sense of humor, etc., so come on down!

Old Fart #3 here. Sorry for the lack of posts or updates. Busy with work, and a little forgetful.

Changes over time?

I'm playing a Schwabtone 5 string jazz these days through a BH-420 head and an old Bassman 100 cab in the same band (FlightRisk, find us on FaceBook). The T-40 is gone, but found it's way into some appreciative hands.

I'm 63. Two back surgeries have limited (a little) my love affair with big tube amps. Luckily, I guess Peavey saw a market niche for guys like me.
So now I have a Peavey VB3.
But I couldn't completely end my 50 year love affair with Ampeg, so I built a B-15 tube pre and put it in a rack chassis with a 1000watt B&O icepower module. Also have an SVT IIp pre amp.
Concession on the speaker cabs: Acme B2 and Walkabout 15 neo ext. cab.

started on guitar @ 16, switched to bass at 19. Early on played metal, in my 20's played with a recording / touring Christian thrash metal band. Quit when son was born, 22 yrs later got back in the game and loving it.

This club could possibly benefit by being moved to "Basses" like most the other clubs. We're hard to find, and I have no doubt there's plenty of us older folks still alive and well. The experiences we all could share would be of great value - plus make for some great reading. Just a thought......just a thought
