Yeah, Mine neck dived like a bitch. High mass bridge and ultra lights mostly sorted it.

Bought my '83 BC Rich NJ Series Eagle used, but 6 months old. Still came with a warranty. Haven't needed or wanted anything else since. Handled rock, metal, punk, blues jams, whatever I threw at it.
Just recently started trying/buying new basses just for something "different" now that I'm heavily into home recording. Not sure if it's because I'm so used to the pure sound of the Eagle, but nothing I have tried or bought has sounded as good or better. Different yes, what I was looking for, but the Eagle has that sound from first fret to last that doesn't waver. The more I play other basses, the more impressed I am with the BC Rich.
Bought an Ibanez SR300E last month. Killer tone and electronics, but still the Eagle has the more pure sound to it. Feels like a tank if I play it right after the Ibanez, but in a good way.

I'm hoping someone can help me identify this BC Rich bass. I bought it used back in the late 80's but it was in immaculate condition so I suspect it wasn't that old when I got it. I never knew what it was and have never seen another one like it. In '91 it was stolen from me and that ended my bass playing for over 20 years. A couple years ago I started playing again and I still miss that old bass. I've spent countless hours searching forums, web sites, and google image search and still haven't come up with anything. Sorry for the lousy photo but it is all I have. The color is blue but has some black striping in it. You might call it a flame top? Any help identifying it is greatly appreciated. Extra points if you can tell me where i might find one.

that one is called the Innovator. your's was the NJ version (bolt on neck). they made a few in the USA too with neck-thrus.

Looking for any insights on my Mockingbird bass. Bought it off a guy in church in 1987. Headstock had already been snapped off and repaired by "the best luthier in Chicago." The guy added ugly eye hooks to make damn sure it didn't drop again. In storage for most of 30 years.
Serial number 77237. From my online research it looks to be a mahogany shorthorn from 1977 (1976?). Switches have red tips. Haven't seen a Mockingbird of this time with dot inlays or these metal knobs. Maybe the knobs were added later? Some threads say that at this time, all BC Rich basses were hand made and there was a lot of customization. I found one thread in which Neal Mozer said, ". . . I don't like clouds. I like dots. I like the way they play better." Thanks for any help!

First of all i want to appologize for my bad english.
Second i want to ask you if this Bass
is a custom makeshift or a fake or something else.. maybe a rare collectible that i am definitly willing to sell
to someone of you to buy a nice looking Bass
.
I obtained this Bass in late 90 from a small music shop
and it slept in a gig bag in my storage room till this summer.
So i just started to learn the Bass and i am really not familiar with BC Rick.
Since getting problems with annoying humms and beeing dissatisfied with the sound at all i
started to have a closer look at this Bass.
The closer i look the more confused I become wether this is a fake made from imported parts and/or parts from other bass guitars or some kind of special customizing....
It has double P Pickup setup with 3 control knobs and a 3 way switch.
I don't know if the control setup was customized but i know the pre owner altered the pickup setup.
I think it came with the PJ Setup, where the J has been replaced with a P on bridge side and neck side has moved about 2.5cm towards the neck.
Comoparing my Bass to other Mockingbirds I figured out that
(these are all assumptions, i compared to the ones I saw on internet)
- the reversed headstock is not so common ( is it possible to mount a lefthanded neck to get the reverse effect??)
- the headstock itself isn't the original Mockingbird
- There is no s/n on the plate, the plate is without any marks, just plain metal. I checked both sides..
- while checking I discovered this :
It says MB100 in my opinion.(which leads to this MiJ Bass which is shortscale, too )
- The neck pickups where moved towards the neck, you can feel and see that the old "housings"
had been filled with some "liquid wood"
Will provide more Photos later or on demand.
Please feel free to ask me for details and to provide me with information how to determe
the origin of the parts/whole Bass.
At my research on the internet i never saw a Mockingbird featuring all these details.
This plus the fact that the sound of this bass is far below every other Basss from a 100$ Starter kit
bought at Toys'r'Us or at the supermarket makes let me think that something is strange with this instrument.
To be honest i am curious if my Bass is a kind of "Frankenbird", composed of bass parts from other models,
or just a attempt to fake.
I would be more than happy if someone can provide the correct Model and manufactor, or even better
the correct wiring scheme and/or tips to improve the sound.

Hello! I just got my first BC Rich, it-s a 1978 Eagle. The woods and the feel of the neck are amazing, but she needs some work on the electronics (general cleanup and maybe a a new jack connector) The moser electronics sound amazing! However, I have noticed that if I override the pre (if i use the bass in passsive mode), the output of the bass is quite weaker thatn my other passive basses. I have checked the Dimarzios and the both are strong at almost 12k. Do you notice the output to go down quite a lot with siliar circuits? Thanks!!
Just acquired a Virgo Celtic bass and must say, I love the sound of this monster! Absolutely kills for the music I play... my one complaint...well 2... is the weight and the size of the neck.... seems like it was built to fit the sound lol... huge and beastly... its going to take some time to adjust to... otherwise, got it for 200 bucks worth of trade in value... in case anyone is wondering, it fits an Epiphone explorer case perfectly... though the overall darkness of everything makes it hard to see so there's a stock pic too...
Hi! Just acquired my first BC Rich. A Warlock NT (or NJ?) neckthru 5-string w/coffin case. For what little info I could gather, seems to be a 2008(?) model. Wanted to ask if there might be any direct replacement tuners? Also I am about to swap the pups to EMG P5's.
USA ST III...FYI. For sale in classifieds. Mint, flawless condition.
