Offical B.C. Rich Club!

I see you've also got an ESP Stream. I've had one for about a year, and after adding a HipShot A style bridge and Ultralight Tuners with a drop tuner, it's one of my favorite basses. The skinny J style nut and narrow taper makes it about the easiest playing bass I have.

Oh cool another club I can join. Just recently traded a MIG Warwick Corvette for this Heritage Classic Mockingbird. The balance is a bit of an issue but it's starting to sound really killer to me and it just looks amazing.

I'm hoping to get some help settling the exact model and year of this bass that I've had since about 1990. I know its a USA made B.C. Rich, and think its from around 1986.
Can someone tell me if this is a ST or a Gunslinger? How can you tell?
Is there a way to figure out the exact year? From what I understand, B.C. Rich didn't keep very efficient records about the serial numbers?
Do these basses keep any of their value?

Man, I love the maple board!! Pretty sure maple body too. Killer finish. Your bass is an ST III. Seen a goodly number of USA ST IIIs last few months. 1987 my gut tells me from your serial number.Gunslinger basses have reverse headstocks, and my memory can't dredge up what else makes a Slinger different from an ST. Someone with more knowledge than me will come along,or try BC Rich World, and or BC Rich Junkies on facebook. There's a lot of members here that you'll find there too. Always hard to value an individual bass. Yours is rockin a great finish, and is a USA, I dig it a ton!! I'm the worst barometer of value anyway, I always buy high if I have to have a bass, and have the funds. Hope I've helped a little. Sweet bass!

I was able to figure out that is was a maple body. That explains the weight. This thing is stupid heavy. 86-87 sounds right to me too. There seemed to be some overlap between the ST and Gunslinger so I wasn't sure.
It is an odd\unqiue sounding bass that I've struggled with for years. The dense body, maple neck, and J pickup VERY close to the bridge means it has a mid range honk that isn't always attractive. It had active EMGs in it when I bought it in 1990. I swapped those out for a Dimarzio set, and then recently rewired it with 250k pots and a .047uf cap. After putting some half dead sounding Super Slinkys on and it and running it through an LS-2 and a Volt Thrower (Rat clone) this is what I got out of it:

socialleper, thanks for the show . That's a really cool bass, sounds good to me! My Wave, and my Charvel are both P/J. Yeah, the J pup on both is really close to the bridge. I'm happy with them, but miss the dual P setup I had before. Anything sounds good thru my Fliptops tho. I think you're fortunate to have that bass. Really dig the black and red crackle!!!

so i am new to the BC Riches BAsses..so here my first Warlock:
Unbenannt-1.jpg

This is an 2001 5 String Warlock NJ series active, made in Korea.
HAve got it via ebay for very little money.
It has the common chips and tear offs at the pointy tips as usual after 15 Years of use.
Now it's time to refurbish /stripping of this Beast to made an new outfit for this bass...
I will show you here the progress of the refinish..
Thank God, that the headstock has so little damage, that an recoating for the headstock is not necessary.
So i'am in the Game ;-)

BTW..it's sooo sad, that all bags or cases that i can find for this kind of Bass cost way much more, as the Bass has cost me....lol....

it's by far the largest bass i own..and i have 14 BAsses..... the Warlock measures from Head to tip 127cm / 50 inches.... no regular Bag or Case have this space..
