Ive heard other complain about weak E and G strings with the choice of Humbuckers BCR would use. They also used Bill Lawrence guitar humbucker in many of the basses at the time, my Ironbird has them and it sounds amazing. Anyways you can still order direct from Beck Lawrence(look up "Wylde" pups, its the actual Bill Lwarence site, an apprentice of his ran with his name and thus the confusion, but Wylde is the correct source.View attachment 3703864

On my Ironbird, both pups are the same LH500, I dont know anything about their other pups. Dimarzios are standard in BC Rich guitars and basses, so you cant go wrong with their precision pups, though if you want some extra special sounding pups, I recommend Janktone custom pups. They sound like Dimarzios on steroids, only still clean and clear,I would describe them as almost a 3D sound, and I had them in the other Ironbird I sold(one on the left), the one on the right(also sold), had Bill Lawrence precision added to the neck position, while the rear is Dimarzio. Dimarzio P's have more growl than the Bill Lawrence P's, but both are fine really.

Nice, I'm 76145. I put Schaller M4S tuners on. Direct drop-in and a lot lighter.

Also, what's the knob there in place of the chicken head knob for the Varitone? Is it the same function but just a different knob?

Under new management apparently. They are making just about everything again, with as many options as you want.

They have 2 bass models out now. I'm waiting for the Ironbird.

I'm kinda a newbie to the BC Rich family (picked up a mid two-thousand-teens Mockingbird Heritage Classic about a month ago), but for what little I do know the large RICH on the headstock indicates it was from the 80's which supposedly makes it more "collectible". From the serial number I'm thinking it was made in 1986. If you got a good price on it definitely a score. If you paid market for it (check Reverb for price comparison) still a nice score. I wanted an 80's model, couldn't pass the deal on the later model year one I got. Great bass, loving mine.

It isn't mine. A friend got it today. He isn't on here. From what gather... yes, it's an '86 NJ series, even though it doesn't state this on the headstock. Also... it has more switches/buttons than the one's that I've been able to "sleuth."

beautiful bass my only complaint is someone once pointed out to me on many of them the bridge is crooked in relation to the pickups, you can't unsee it once its pointed out ( you're welcome! lol )
