This crowd would probably be the most knowledgeable about this. Anyone know what this circular marking around the pickup is? you can only see it in certain light. It's perfectly symmetrical.

Thanks. And agreed. I need a better thumb rest. This one works fine, but I either need a nicer one or need to smooth out the edges on this one. It's uncomfortable. The rounded edges of my Thunderbird's pickups are really nice to rest my thumb on.

I replaced the heavy tuners that came on my Bodine with lighter Schaller M4S. The Schallers have been awful and I'd like to go with a different brand. Has anyone replaced these tuners with something else? I was trying to avoid modifications, but I'm so fed up with Schaller that I'm now willing to use screws where the two pin holes are, if something fits there.

Maybe this sounds like a broken record as an advocate for Hipshot, but the ultralite would probably work, except I'm not sure where exactly the pin holes lie on the Schallers.

I'm a huge fan of the Grover 144 tuners that came stock on my Gibson Thunderbird. I just don't want to drill any new holes in this bass. The furthest I'd be willing to go is to use the existing peg holes to screw into.

I talked to him (her?) it's not actually his, belonged to his deceased brother. He couldn't answer any specifics about it. I made him a solid offer (over 50% of asking) and was told $6k FIRM

Yeah... I almost called and offered $3k... but... I figured it was a waste of time.

I found ONE listing that intrigued me... until I found that the website is associated with a known "knockoff" producer in China. I think that even if they claim it is an authentic used one it would be a huge risk. Could they possibly have a vintage instrument? Maybe. But chances are high that it's something they built and "aged."

Most of those sites are scams
