Looks great!Bought this off a friend, 1984 USA.
It was in rough shape, was stripped to bare wood (mahogany but appeared to have originally been black) , bridge was recessed although I'm uncertain why, electronics non functional etcetera.
My friend sent it to Lee Garver at GMW guitarworks. Recess was filled with mahogany, electronics repaired and painted in a color shifting blue pearl that changes from almost white to blue, green and even a hint of pink.
I think when it was stripped the neck received some extra sanding as most of my BCRs are around .83ish at the first fret this one is .79
Plays and sounds fantastic with low action
Love it!View attachment 4928371 View attachment 4928372 View attachment 4928373
If you don't mind me asking, how much did that restoration cost?...check out Lee's sick work on the recess.
Was in 2019 but I have the receipt, was $900 something, fix the route, repair the electronics, repair a tuner, paint, set up and new stringsIf you don't mind me asking, how much did that restoration cost?
Good to know. I have a Mockingbird that a previous owner had stripped. I've always wanted to have it refinished, but I've never known anyone I would trust to do the job.
THAT'S not going to happen! If it's a neck thru USA and you get sick of it let me know lol
I'd settle for a picTHAT'S not going to happen!![]()
Thanks for the link!
Raincheck. A dog bit my left hand earlier, so now I'm on pain meds and typing one-handed. But if I can find an easy-to-access photo I already took, I'll post it here.I'd settle for a pic![]()
Nice, looks to be a heritage series , they made them mostly in trans red but also trans black and trans blue.Raincheck. A dog bit my left hand earlier, so now I'm on pain meds and typing one-handed. But if I can find an easy-to-access photo I already took, I'll post it here.
FYI, it's a neck-thru, but I don't know where it was made.

From what I’ve been able to gather, it depends. Back in the day, they had 5-digit serial numbers; the first 2 digits being the year, and the last 3 being the number made. Somewhere along the way, they were making more than 999 in a year, so they incremented the first 2 digits rather than adding a sixth. The SN of my ‘83 starts with 87.Agreed, from the control layout I'd say Heritage also. I have the red one, really well built and great sounding instrument. Don't know what year mine is though, anyone know how to tell the year of manufacture from the serial number?
Nice, congratulations!Love the blem in the wood, gives it character, pics were from when it arrived, I've since stripped it down, cleaned everything and reassembled View attachment 4996121 View attachment 4996122
