Chara is such a big dude. It looked more like Chara was trying to finish his check. He isn't one to typically purposefully hurt people. That didn't look like he was intentionally trying to hurt him. I sure hope he's ok.

Edit: Game misconduct for Chara. He's gone. I'm curious about a possible suspension.

Chara knew the ramp was coming and Paciorety didn't even had the puck.
OK my guess for a suspention : He's a superstar , so no cold beer at the end of the game and and little slap on the hand.


If it was a third or fourth line guy : 25 games

With a hit like that he might never play again, or never be the same... and we're going to miss him big time, maybe I'm just to vile for this sport but I think you bruins fans are lucky he's not there for the third, I'd knock him with my stick and finish him with my skates until somebody stops me.

If ATL moves to the West, either Detroit or Columbus would move to the East since they're in the same time zone. IMHO Detroit as the Original Six team would get the nod. But that rumbling has been around for years. If it ever happens I'll be thrilled since there would be a heck of a lot less late starts. Plus, the possibility of a division with several of the O6 teams would be awesome. At the very least those rivalries would be rekindled in a big way (plus I think Det-Pit would get even more intense possibly surpassing the Det-Col wars of the late 90's).

I didn't see any games yesterday or tonight due to working with the wife on house projects.

That makes no sense. Detroit and Chicago are both original 6, and a relocation to Canada would put a team much closer to them. Plus Nashville isn't very far away from Atlanta or the rest of the teams in the East.

It was a dangerous hit, no doubt about it. But you're right - he knew he had screwed up as soon as he did it. It looked like he was bent down apologizing to Powe immediately. Could have been really bad. And yeah, only one goal on the 5 minute power play. Not good at all. Sure was good to get a win though.

Why is it that all these teams at the bottom of the standings play like Stanley Cup champs when they play the Flyers?!

I didn't see the Chara hit. I'm gonna' go look for it now...

I just watched the Chara hit a couple times. As an impartial observer, I have to say that I don't think it was a deliberate attempt to injure. The guy's 6'9". He has the potential to hurt you anytime he hits you. I might be wrong, but I don't think he realized that the Hab was gonna' hit the turnbuckle (or stanchion, or whatever it's called). But one thing is certain: It was a devastating injury. I pray he'll be okay.

On the Powe hit, it was a fairly common occurrence. Powe was facing the boards, bent down somewhat. Smid hit him hard (and unnecessarily) from behind, sending Powe head-first into the boards hard. He was shaken up for a bit, but was able to get off under his own power. And it was clear (at least to me) that Smid felt real bad about it. You could tell from his body language that he was thinking, "Ah, @@@@, why did I do that?!"

I did not see that same body language from Chara; but I don't think he had the intent to injure either.

On the Chara hit,...it was devastating for sure and Pacioretty's head bore the full force of the impact. I don't think Chara needed to make the play though,...but this game is so fast and Chara got Pacioretty's skate with his stick blade and it had Pac out of balance to going into the side of the glass (turnbuckle).

If that had happened on the sin bin side it would have just been Chara running Pacioretty along the boards and he would have been fine.

Wrong decision at the wrong time and place.

EDIT: Strong push by Thornton and Setoguchi there.

For the first time since February 4th, the Penguins won a regulation game. What a relief.

Anyone keeping up with Ray Emery? I'm trying, but it's been hard lately. He was sent to Syracuse the other day, then he got called back up today. It looks like he is here to stay now as Hiller is expected to remain out, which means Ellis will keep starting with Emery as backup. I sure hope he turns it around and gets a starting gig.
