MYR's were on a mission today... nice to see a win at home. Flyers looked a little lost and gave up after the 4th goal. I can see why Flyers fans are concerned, the playoffs are imminent but they are looking tired and lost, like they've lost the spark. They'll have a tough time against a very hungry team if they hit the first round with that mentality.

The Flyers and the Wings are in similar positions. It almost seems as if they are waiting to just flip the switch come the playoffs. The Wings have sort of done that for a few years but they don't have the division locked up yet this year.

That was an embarrassment. I'd like to blame it on the flu going around the locker room but that's no excuse.

A couple things I'm noticing, Flyers passing is off the mark,...they keep making the safe play by passing into each others skates and hoping the recipient can get it from skate to stick. I'd prefer to see crisp tape to tape passes which helps you gain a step on forwards defending the neutral zone. Which brings me to my next point,...nuetral zone execution is non existent.

Flyers have been a transition team all year but they've lost that sparkle. They've been at their best when the force turnovers and pop out on the odd man rush. Lately they've been shut down in the neutral zone and not stacking up the blue line or forcing turnovers.

They are trying to play cutesy hockey,...they seem to have lost their grit and even when they show flashes of physicality they are getting out worked on that as well. They've gone soft.

They've also need to go back to a shoot first mentality. Put pucks on net instead of trying to pass. Especially when you get that two on one,...put rubber on the goalies pads and try to get the rebound. Instead they are trying to pass with sticks in lanes. When they do attempt a shot it's almost always wide so accuracy needs to improve.

Goaltending and defense is lacking. Too much standing around and too many soft goals. Seems like there is no confidence between the blue liners and the goal tenders. I had high hopes for boosh's game today but it only took 51 seconds for those to get dashed. The Flyers didn't give up after the 4th goal,...they gave up after the 1st goal.

Versteeg's turnover on the 5th goal I believe was ugly,...who toe drags with a forward bearing down 10 feet in front your goal in the slot. Versteeg might has well have put it in the net himself. Whiskey Tango Foxtrot.

The Avery no goal was a good call as was the Callahan goal off the skate. Kudos to him for the Hat Trick and that heads up redirection on his 4th.

Keep waiting for a wake up call for these bums but they've got to right the ship post haste.

I was thinking the same thing in yesterday's game. There were at least two times yesterday where Giroux should have taken the shot instead of attempting an ill-fated pass. He's a magician with the puck, so he should be utilizing that talent instead of always looking to pass.

But like you said, that's just one of a myriad of problems. They don't seem to be able to do anything right lately. Can't put the puck in the net; can't pass cleanly; can't gain the zone; can't defend their own zone; can't do anything on the power play; and can't get solid goaltending. Add it all up and you've got lots of trouble. They need to get it together immediately.

Yesterday, I said they need a 6 or 7 goal outburst. They must have misunderstood me. I meant for THEM to score 6 or 7 - not their opponent!! :rollno:

Hey all - just chiming in as a big hockey fan. I've been a Broons fan ever since I was 6 in 1970. Boston was on a great run, but I didn't think that they'd win against the Pens last night. But they hung in there for a point, so there's that. With two games against the Habs this month, it should be interesting.

I don't know the ins and outs of the deal in Phoenix,...or in Atlanta but they are two teams that are dragging other teams down and need to move and I would support their movement to Canadian Cities. The Spokane Chiefs draw bigger crowds then these two teams.

Man, you ain't kidding. Me too. But you're spot on about the arena. The city of Seattle let the NBA team walk for chump change, then forfeited a $50,000,000 bonus for not having a new arena plan in place by the deadline set by the owner who moved the team. Such a bummer.

*Cough, cough* Islanders *Cough*

Only the Blue Jackets, Thrashers, Coyotes, and Islanders are below 80% attendance, and they are in order from most to least attendance.

Of course, if the Thrashers move, I would contend that the Predators should be moved into the South East to take their place, and the Canadian team could join Detroit and Chicago in the Central
