Official Ampeg Club!: Part II

Earlier today, I got my very first Ampeg, a BA210sp. The amp has more history in the forum than I do - I got it from Bassteban, who got it from JoshB. I supposed someday I should follow tradition and pass it on, but for now its mine. Mine, I say! Bwahaha!

Number, please - pics later, after the Nikon battery charges.

I just got back from hearing a vintage Ampeg SVT for the first time. It was paired with a newer Ampeg 6x10.

It was a smaller venue (~100 person capacity), and the amplifier was surely overkill for the occasion, but it absolutely blew my socks off. The bassist was using a passive vintage J-bass from the same '70s ear.

It was a religious experience. The master was cranked, but it didn't feel like the amp was being pushed at all. It had an organic natural compression, and a beautiful clean tone. Kind of boxy, but I loved it. It made the band.

Kind of like hearing an Aguilar DB 750 for the first time. (I love my Aguilar, and wouldn't trade it for anything... except maybe a vintage SVT.)

Yours is one club I wouldn't object to being a member of! My goodness!

finally got a pic up another svt-4 on the way too.
