hey i want to join. i have the following:
1969-ampeg dan armstrong plexi bass
1971-ampeg dan armstrong plexi bass [fretless] 150 ever made
1972-dan armstrong london bass [fretless]-one of only 2 known to exist.
1998-ampeg dan armstrong plexi bass [black smoked plexi]
1998-ampeg amb-1 dan armstrong clone
and the kicker: 1969 ampeg svt head that i traded rick price, bassist for the georgia satellites for. he got my hofner 500/1 bass.

it has been around the world a bunch.

can i get a #?

I was excited about joining, but now I'm not so sure. I ordered my ampeg tonight, an svt 3pro. I posted on another forum about ordering it, and everyone is telling me I made a big mistake :[ I hope they are wrong

You could probably do a search on ANY amp model or make and on various sites around the internet find 1000 people who think it's the best amp ever, and 1000 who hate it.

I know. I struggled over what to buy for weeks because for every positive thing I read that made me want a particular amp, I read another that made me not want it.

Finally, I stopped reading, went to the store and started playing.

After playing several brands and models - I chose Ampeg.
And believe me - I went down there thinking I wanted anything but an Ampeg. I wanted GK, then I wanted Markbass, then it was Peavey, back to Markbass - and I had all but settled on Kustom - when I plugged into the Ampeg it took me less than 15 minutes to figure out that I had found what I had been looking for.

Stop listening with your eyes.
Start listening with your ears.

I agree completely , but for me anyway, I've never had much luck in music stores. I actually bought a behringer once because it actually sounded great in the store, sounded generic when I got it home. I've had that before, everything always seems to sound better in the store :\

That's a good word. The sound is in your head. The tone that you know your bass has deep within it somewhere. You just need to find the amp that brings it out.

For me it's a '98 Fender American Jazz -> SVT3 pro -> SVT 210 HE

I saw that thread over at HCBF. I post there as well as FloydianAnimal and saw your thread about the amp you got. Honestly man, I own an SVT3-Pro and an Ampeg 1x15 and 2x10 for my setup and I think it sounds great live and in practice. Also. I've gotten plenty of compliments from other bassists who see my rig and tell me how great it looks/sounds :)

I just bought a brand new SVT 4 Pro Head
before that I ran an SVT400T (still have it)
David Eden 410 (top)
Ampeg 18 Bottom

usually run through a multieffects pedal too

Korg AX1B or Zoom BFX 708 II or DOD Bass 30

Playing (most often) Ibanez SGR 405
or Cort A5 (Maple) with Barts
or Ibanez SGR 495
or Fender fretless Jazz 4

I love the Ampeg sound. Tried so many heads and speaker combinations before settling
into Ampeg. I should have gone out a spent the money right off the bat and saved
myself years of frustration. The main reason for now getting the 4Pro is I wanted the
headroom for larger venues. Playing in two bands. Church every Sunday and Vintage
Rock once a week with shows/dances, monthly. Looking forward to connecting via
threads in the future with fellow low enders Woo Hoo.

now I want a black matching set.

Also I have to say my friend has an SVT-3pro and I really liked the sound of it.

Like everyone says on here go out and listen, and then prepare to have what you like torn apart by everyone else :)

Allright, let me in guys! I don't know why I resisted going with ampeg to begin with but with my new (to me) V4-AV and 8x10E I think I've found the sound I was trying to get all along. I love the V4 but it's right on the verge of not bieng loud enough so to fix that problem I've recently sold my Mesa 400+ specifically to get a svt pro II.
