I just attempted to find out the exact date when my JBL D140R 15" speaker was made, serial #11403 and found that this is a difficult task. Does anyone here have a link that would lead to getting to the bottom of this? I bought it a number of years ago (love it - it's in my '76 B15N) and was told then it was late '60s.

Made in the same week? JBL D140 R 1960's | Reverb

Money well spent.

Unlike most speakers, you don't find date codes on these speakers. R stands for Rogers Organ from what I understand.

Someone got a great price on that one! Yes, from a Rogers organ which was under the Fender umbrella. Mine has a silver-dome.

The one on reverb looks like a recone. The outer edge has too much "gloss" to be that old. Not a scientific approach, but I've seen lots of drivers... It is too dark too. Even the drivers out of my ampegs from the 90's have more fade and "patina" than the one on reverb does.

Just got the 410HE hooked up and yeah that is tone and sound I've been looking for. Tweeter is turned off and it's sweet. Worth the effort to pick it up, thanks again for the input and advice. Probably going to sell the PF210, keep the PF115 and start looking PF-50 head
The 410HE is my favorite cabinet too.
