Sweatin' that natural 305
Time flies... I just picked up my second ATK 4-string... my new favorite. She's a svelte 9 lb. 9 oz. transparent black beauty... the lightest ATK I have owned... and in absolutely mint condition. I'll post pics tomorrow.
I also stumbled upon a USATK-5 that I could not pass up. I needed something to put a big fat Circle K .142 on. It will be my fourth ATK 5-string... and my first USATK. I should have it in about a week. I'm really anxious to try a Bunker necked ATK.
I'm also looking forward to hearing from the troops that ordered new Bunker necks for their ATKs.
Did you snag that Bunker, on ebay, that had the crack in the headstock?
Seems to me that Dave could replace the headstock on that on fairly easy.

Funk Factor... Did you go with a 14" radius on your maple board Bunker neck? What fret size did you decide on?

It's what he made them up originally ...I'm assuming it's 9 1/2 with medium jumbo as I didn't ask.
Looks like somebody's gonna snag a Prestige at a good price ...but I didn't drool too much.....pretty happy with what I got
Hey hey hey .... Bunker neck's in da house
The fretboard has an extremely vivid flame pattern....and almost looks to have some spalting in a couple places....Absolutely gorgeous!
The profile is not quite as chunky as my stock necks.....very comfortable.
9 1/2 radius with a smaller fretwire than what came stock on all my ATK's and pretty close to what was used on the refrets I had done on my 750 and 300....
But......I did have one little issue and it was pretty much from a miscommunication between Dave and myself.
My peghead was shot in satin black....should'a been gloss.
In any case, I spoke with Dave after I discovered it and he said he'd take care of it, at no cost, and he'd handle the shipping.
No biggee...just a minor inconvenience.
I'll get some pics posted in a bit

Here's a pic of my current ATK 4-string. She's a stunner... absolutely mint... with a matching signature hard case. I had to request "actual bass weight" for every ATK sale I checked out in order to find this relative lightweight. I think I'm going to be playing this one for a while.
I picked up a 4-knob 3-band Bartolini preamp from a fellow TB'er and I'll probably try it in this bass. It's got the push-pull selectable mid-range freq and should be a lot of fun in the ATK.

Yes... another.. even sweeter... PGB1. I've been keeping my eyes peeled for them and searching "Paul Gray" because some listings (like the one for this bass) don't contain the words "ATK" or "PGB1" in the title... go figure.
Anyways.. I returned the transparent wine PGB1 after I bought this one. I received a full refund minus the $22 shipping fee. I would have been happy with the other one if I hadn't found this one. I really think I'm set now... as even the ATK1200 that went for $746 shipped didn't tempt me.
I like how you've worked at making each of your ATKs... the "perfect" ATK for you... preamps, pickups, fretwork, custom neck, etc.
Speaking of which... I'm ready to see some pics of a flame maple Bunker board with a hint of spalt
Thanks bro....I went thru quite a few basses lookin' for that "tone in my head"....I found it with the ATK's.
My stock 750 covers P Bass, Jazz Bass and Stingray tones....not exact copies, but I prefer the ATK versions.
The Basscultures/Glock tri-fade really captures an authentic Stingray tone....just not as in your face.
I was gonna have my Bunker necked 3EX1 tuned BEAD, but I've decided to keep it tuned down to Eb with flatwounds.
I am gonna pair the stock pickup with another Glock preamp and just pick up a 305 down the road as I don't really use a B string that much anyway.
The neck mods made a world of difference in playability and it was worth every penny. Despite the moderate cost, they are professional instruments....I just made 'em a little bit better

It's good to know that Dave Bunker takes pride in offering great customer service. That flaming hot neck is going to look awesome on your EX1 with a matching gloss black head stock. It will be interesting to see how performing a bass setup with the Bunker neck varies from a standard Ibanez truss rod neck.
I need to read the Bunker neck tech info again in preparation for receiving my "fixer upper" next week.
