The thing is that I've wanted one for a while now, and this particular bass is in excellent shape as best as I can tell from the pictures.

$200 is an excellent deal! I hope your car gets great gas mileage... in my van, at 15mpg and $4.00 a gallon (here on Oahu), I'd spend about $100 to pick that ATK300 up. Still a good deal though! Congrats, you'll dig it!

I'll be taking the wife's Focus instead of my Jeep, that's for sure! Cincinnati to Findley Ohio... It will probably be a pretty boring drive, scenery-wise, compated to Oahu!!

I play an Ibanez PJ and sing lead vocals in a middle-aged "punk" band. This ATK however is purely for my funk side. :) Me, some Parliament, some Rick James, and some Invalid Link Removed all alone in the basement. It's my personal zen and my wife's personal hell (at 2am). :bassist:

The Focus makes good sense! I think if you give the ATK a chance, and the right pedals, it will surprise you on the punk side as well... it can get gnarly if you want. A good rockin' set of strings will help too...

Her's an example from the bass player for Joe Bonamassa from 2005 - Eric Czar... listen to the bass around the 3-minute mark or so when the whole band kicks in. He's playing an ATK305 (5-string), but the sound has a bite to it, especially when the song gets past the 4-to-6 minute mark. In one of the songs he does a bass solo, but at the moment I don't remember which one. here it is:

I love my black ATK300 but always thought it was a little plain
looking. Tried these jazz bass fretboard stickers from creative cuts
ordered on Ebay and makes it really stand out.

These stickers hold really well and are easy to install and can be
removed with no damage to the fretboard.

Hey guys I just scored my second ATK 300 (not sure of the year but its a newer model as it has the truss rod wheel) the thing sounds and plays amazing but I do have a question, all other basses ive seen with a truss wheel (the MM basses I have owned) and pics Ive seen of the basses on this thread with wheels, seem to but up against the heel of the neck, mine does not, in fact it buts up against the pickguard, and the shaft of the wheel sticks out from the neck, it does function like it should so its not a big deal I guess, but just wondering if anyone elses is like this.
