My problem was needing a smaller cab to lug up and down steps to practices. A One 10 met that need and it was a good move as afterwards I joined a second band and am twice as busy.
Everyone should own a One10. Just my opinion. So many uses. You wouldn't go camping without a pocket knife, would you?
BB2 users where do you set your crossover?. I generally turn it pretty far down or off, particularly if I'm running a dirty signal. For cleaner tones, I like the zing it adds when the control knob spine is about horizontal. If the bass is brighter or darker, that can change (I'm up to 4 in my arsenal).
Today I'm testing running it full range with tracks out of iTunes and I expected that I'd like it all the way up, but I actually like it backed off of fully on, the controller knob spine is about vertical. AC/DC sounds good through it, with really punchy kick drums. It's not my hi-fi tower speakers, but, it ain't bad

I employ a full-on, full-range BB2 for my bass rig as my preamp tones are fully cabinet sim'd via Two Notes Torpedo CAB before amplification.
Off the record, I note that you have now noted the BB2 is not quite your existing hi-fi tower experience and this is OK as I have previously reported the same under similar scrutiny.
I myself am quite satisfied in that my BB2 is more bass rig than studio monitor, but it is nice to agree in such fine company.

I find it varies depending on bass, amp and room; and also the music itself. Generally I like it closer to off... say, 25-40% of full tweet. Of course, what your "native" tone is determines a lot.

Yeah, but, throw a 31 band EQ on it, and I'll bet it would make a fine hi-fi speaker or facsimile thereof. It IS optimaized for bass, after all.
And @monsterthompson, it doesn't sound like your home stereo speakers... does it sound like a good PA would sound when playing program music?
I remain intrigued by the possibilities of the FR800, in it's intended role as PA cab. But, I don't need PA cabs, my simple Behringer 15+ horn PA cabs do fine (not with bass run through them though, I am sure) for my applications. And at $3000k / pair, I am not overly tempted to upgrade.
I don't have a good PA for reference but I'm thinking its in the ball park. A decent eq would certainly make it sound more like a home hi-fi, if that was your goal. Of course, every hi-fi is different, too. I certainly heard more articulation in playback than I would with my hi-fi, which I think is the point.
My current rig and plan is a 2-in audio interface, into Ableton Live. Guitar in one, bass in the other. Possibly a live synth connected via USB. Various midi and loop tracks playing as well. I'll run the laptop headphone out into a mono TS 1/4" conversion cable, into the Return jack on my Demeter head, then into the BB2. Test run today says it should work. Gotta see how it sounds with the guitarist and start building out tracks.

Speaking of the crossover knob on the BB2, which I believe is exponentially better than a standard horn attenuator, I quite enjoy being able to turn the BB2 into an SC (of course, with more inherent LF.)
In first-person, it is both educational and fulfilling to experience the effects of cabinet size and an HF driver over the Super Compact which solely uses the exact same LF driver, but in a less-voluminous enclosure.
As with a set of golf clubs, the eventual knowledge gain and appreciation for the right tool for the job.

The horn / crossover is an awesome feature of the BB2
with other cabs i typically turn down the tweeter
but with the BB2 there is no harshness or glassiness, its just there
so i leave it up all the way and adjust my tone knob on my bass
I swear! every time I read this thread, it makes me want a Barefaced. Not necessarily a bad thing.
So for a moderately loud band (drums, bass, two guitars, fiddle,keys, and three vocalists), would you vote for the Super Midget or the Super Compact? I am using (2) One10's right now, and loving them. But I play four or five times a week, and looking to leave a cab at the practice room, and to use when we play out. Also considering another One10.
Super Compact. With my wrecking crew, I've made a 210 and a SC work. The SM just felt like it lacked enough low end authority when pushed, and I didn't feel comfortable pushing it hard enough to be loud enough for that crew. You could pull a SM and then have a 110SM stack. But for a single cab, go SC.
Thanks. I am looking at a BB2 also used, but I really want to stay small as I can.
The SC and BB2 don't seem that different in size to some, but if you're sensitive to it, the differences are noticeable. The SC is in my comfort zone. The BB2 pushes it. If it were a heavier cab, it'd be awkward for me (note that I'm crippled for an injury, so my sensitivity isn't the norm).
