Official Barefaced Bass Cab Club

upload_2018-8-23_12-14-58.jpeg

another fun little setup. '79 4001, pf20t through 2 one10s.

Does anyone know if one of the powered speakers can be used along with a non-powered speaker in case you want to use multiple cabinets?

Also is it possible to bypass the power section and just use the the powered speaker as a passive speaker with an amp head?

Another gig where the bass sound was just perfect... a couple of Two10 cabs and the Mesa D800+ amplifier...

I have one question about handles, 'though. On one of my cabs, one of the handles is starting to feel a bit loose. One of the two metal covers seems to have a bit of play... I'd like to remove it and see if the screw underneath needs tightening, before one day it just falls apart. Does anybody know how to do that? It looks like it should be pretty simple, but I am not sure how to do that and I don't want to apply too much force just in case I'm going the wrong way about it.

I'm pretty sure they are Penn-Elcomm H1195 handles. You should be able to get some details here :

SVT-VR and 810e.

6X10 may be the way to go, if you seek similar volume, but lighter weight.
If louder is your goal, then yes 2(4x10)'s will get you there I expect. I'm not sure if they are still available, but there were a couple 8x10 prototypes available, this spring IIRC, which would bump SPL while also cutting the weight.
Could also take the modular approach with one each 6x10 and 2x10, but that may not be as practical as 2(4x10)'s, and it also flirts with three ohms, which will put your amp at risk.

Alex and his BF crew have been helpful and responsive. However, if you want to work with a builder in a time zone that you can call at a reasonable hour, then a Fearless/ful design might be a better choice.

When I made my first Barefaced purchase, timezone/location definitely was not a major factor to me. Calling the UK from America (Pacific Time) and getting all the interaction and information I needed took staying up late all of once, which was a valuable conversation for me to figure out what the best cabinet choice was for my goals. The remaining details (eg. which model I settled on and whether or not I wanted a neoprene cover) were all worked out easily in email. To put it in perspective, the need to interact frequently over a cabinet build is far, far less involved than doing a custom bass guitar, where you're interacting over wood selections, designs, custom inlays, setup, etc. at several different phases. Just my 2 cents!

@mcnach If I recall seeing somewhere you have to be extremely careful removing the screw as to not let the anchor fallout that's inside the cabinet. I believe there's info on their site under covers tshirts and spares.

I don't want to remove it, I just want to be able to check it's tight enough and if not, tighten it... but I guess best contact Alex, right? :)

This is why I can't get anything done...

I have songs to work on, patches to create, a new driver in my BTII to warm up, a new amp to get used to, and just practicing in general that I want/need to get done, but SOMEBODY decided that tonight was the night they needed MY attention and sleeping in my presence was important ...:eyebrow:

I swear that cat usually heads upstairs when the rest of the family goes to bed, but not tonight. Lol!
