Good point. Probably just more neutral than other cabs I have owned. The horn is nicely integrated without being obnoxiously bright, and it goes deep without seeming to overemphasise the bottom end. Down side is that any errors in fretting technique are quite apparent, which is probably why I am drawn to the more limited range of the 10 series:unsure:.

The BB2 made me realise that I actually like a coloration in a bass cab. I hate pfaffing around with eq a lot. I can hear myself in more of a way that I want with the 10s.

Very much the same realisation I have made. I will try to catch one of your gigs next time I am in Auckland as I am intrigued to hear the mesa cab which seem to favour currently.

Yes give me a yell next time you are here Tim. Most of my gigs lately have been ampless though, In ear monitors are a sign of changing times, so I've hardly been using an amp over the last few months.

same here

after trying hard to make 'transparent' cabs work, I realised that the right 'colour' was better for me. I use a pair of Two10 and I don't miss my pair of BB2 at all.

My FR800 died at a gig last night. I almost had a mini heart attack cause I just got it! So I had to disassemble it and see what happened.

Then I saw this:

Thank God! Anyone know why the speaker cone cables isn't soldered to the terminals?

It looks like it was soldered, just not very well. In the picture it looks like there is solder on the tips of the terminals, and it looks like I can see strands of the wire that is still connected. I used to assemble and manage electronic equipment production and from the picture I would say that it was soldered by someone who was either careless or not properly trained how to solder.

Are both wires broken? Very strange, as not only are they soldered, they are glued in place. Could be caused by overpowering, bad soldering, or the wires were cut too short and they eventually pulled loose which if I had to guess would be the issue. Check the back of the cone where the wires poke through and make sure the cone is not ripped.

Doesn't seem like it's ripped. I don't see any solder residue on the terminals, thus my question of why the terminals aren't soldered. It might just be a factory thing that a worker forgot to solder after pinching the wire to the terminals.

Actually I don't think it's supposed to be soldered from the factory. Just crimped and glued. I wish I would have taken a better picture when I had my Super Compact apart, but I don't think mine is soldered either. Plus looking at other Eminence speakers they are not soldered. Here is mine:

I wonder what's the reason for not soldering the wire. Anyways, I think it's better now and I could trust the connection better. Thanks a lot brother!

The tinsel leads are soldered to the speaker connections! That was the joint failure in question.
