I think I'm going to need a new head. As much as I like my Markbass F1i can see me wanting something a bit louder, now I've gone 8ohms. I'm not saying I'll have level issues, but I think I'd rather get something in the 500watt@ 8ohms range than find I'm pushing my F1 a bit of hard. I don't think it really likes going over noon on the master.
Having two cabs isn't really an option, as I dont have space In the car, and for most gigs one will be more than enough.
To me the logical choice, assuming I like what I hear with my current head, would be to stick with MB, but I also fancy the Ashdown RM800. I always liked the tone my MAG has, but wasn't too keen on the ABM I had. That was a long time ago though, and my tastes have changed somewhat.
Assuming I get the BB2 on time it looks like it will arrive the day before my next gig. This won't give me any time to break it in, maybe just 10mins playing, so I'm a bit nervous, but also really looking forward to it. This is the biggest gig I have booked at the moment, as far as venue size goes. It's a large room, large high stage and no PA support. First ime I played this was with a MB traveler 15P and it was a terrible tone. All bottom end and compression. Head almost maxed out but not getting louder. This was the gig that put me off deviating from Schroeder cabs. I've been back many times and never really had any issues with my 1212L. Still never needed to push it too hard. I have a lot of confidence in the BB2 doing even better, and with a better tone.
