I am a first time Barefaced owner, humbly requesting admission to the club. I received my brand new Super Twin a couple of days ago - I'm sure I don't have to sell anyone here on how great it is, but holy moly! I look forward to the sound of the cab improving as the drivers get further broken in, but even right out of the box it is very impressive. I could give you a long list of cabinets that I've owned over the years, but within a few seconds it was clear to me that the Super Twin delivers the sound I've been searching for for a very long time. I am happy that I chose the tweeterless version, as the high end seems to be more than sufficient. I've found most tweeters to be overly harsh and non-musical or not integrated with the LF drivers very well, so on the cabinets I've owned that have them they end up being turned almost completely off, or entirely off in some cases. The low B string area is always a concern, and the Super Twin seems to translate sub-low E notes in perfect balance with the entire range of the instrument, something I'm not used to hearing - in fact, I have often found myself compensating my attack on the B string and/or adjusting amp settings depending on whether certain cabs accentuate that range or are missing it. I look forward to not having to do that.
I've thrown all the amps in my possession and a number of basses at the Super Twin so far - all the amps (pictured) sound great in different ways, but the Quilter BB802 seems to have the most transparency, punch and openness, all qualities that the Super Twin translates very well. I've put maybe five different basses through it so far and they all sound exactly like they should, which made me realize I have been favoring certain basses to make up for deficiencies in my other cabs.
I haven't had a chance to bust it out on a gig yet, but I have several coming up this week and will report back further. The weight and ergonomics of the cab are a huge plus, since some of the gigs I have coming up have pretty hellacious load ins. I believe I could actually manage a one-trip load in with gig bag over my shoulder, for short distances at least.
Re. ordering and shipping, the time from placing the order to arrival was around 13 weeks. The cab shipped out from Barefaced last Monday and got to me in California Thursday - shockingly fast, and no customs hangups whatsoever. The packaging was brilliant and sufficiently protective without using a huge box, very well thought out.
