Fair enough. I kinda expected my write up wasn't what your measurements would be (but I figured I'd post anyway and deal with consequences of being wrong). As I mentioned at the end of my earlier post, I think the difference in wattage pushed by the switch from an 8 ohm to 4 ohm cab probably made for a fuller sound in the 4 ohm Two10 which I perceived as being more mids. Combine that with the highs being rolled off lower in the Two10, which made the proportion of everything else seem different.

I felt a bit of confidence in what I was writing based on my amp EQ adjustments making the sounds more comparable between cabs. I also thought I might be wrong in my assessment based on the Basswitch clip I posted, where Ed calls the sound "Ampeg" like. I do think that clip I posted is somewhat representative of difference in the BB2 vs. Two10, to my ears, though the Two10 doesn't strike me as being as exaggerated as an Ampeg.

Another gig down on the BB2 stack. As I mentioned I would do previously, I ran my Crest ProLite 3.0 bridged into the pair of BB2's rather than stereo like I had done earlier. I was able to get much more headroom and the cabs didn't seem like they were even breaking a sweat.

We were playing on a raised wooden stage that had it's own resonant frequency that we were fighting with all night and I was standing in the one place that sounded horrible. The venue isn't that large but it isn't tiny either, and we weren't using their PA so the rig was carrying the place by itself (totally normal for us)

However, the cabs sounded great! My sub happened stop by so I asked him to sit in on a few tunes so I could hear what it sounded like FOH. Holy crap!
Supportive, room filling, deep low end wherever I stood in the room. It sounded like there was PA support.

As for the CN212 comparo, I think the BB2's have more low end available but that doesn't mean the CN212 is lacking in any way either. Just a personal preference thing, but I still prefer using a single cab rather than the two BB2's. I felt like I had to make a ton of trips back and fourth just to move one more cab than usual. I don't see myself getting a Big Twin but I suppose anything is possible. I'll continue to compare as I get more time on the BB2's.

Next week I'll be taking a single BB2 out to a smaller venue, so I'm hoping that I'll get a similar tonal profile and good performance just from a smaller package. We were supposed to have a gig tonight where I was taking a single, but it got cancelled due to the blizzard.

I've said said this exactly, in previous posts. Totally accurate. And in my case, that was with one BB2. I, too, was able to listen to it FOH at one of my gigs when a quality former bassist of the band sat in for a few.

The retro drivers actually have a dip in the middle mids, around 500Hz. The 12" neos are pretty flat with a bump around 2.5k. The extra top from the horn as well as the crossover set at its lowest point when The horn is all the way up is making it sound smoother and less mid forward.

I'll play around with my mid EQ since my amp has it at 500. I'm curious how this will interplay.

Sometimes, as the Dead sang: "Too much of everything is just enough". I totally love the color of Alex's One 10, and it sounds as though the 210s are the same deal, only more betterer.

I messed around with direct recording today, and played with some of the LPF settings. I noticed that bringing down the cut-off frequency of the LPF made the midrange come through as more present, despite no EQ adjustments being done in that range. I think this is not far from what I was hearing in the switch from the BB2 to the Two10. It wasn't the mids coming up, it was the highs going away. I just didn't have the brain power to explain it clearly. I was able to retain the highs I liked, but avoided the really high highs that I didn't need. Since observation is often relative and driven by perception of nearby land marks for determining proportion, I can understand why I wrote the description I did, despite the BF HQ measurements indicating otherwise. I'll keep this in mind for future observations and writing.

Late to the party.....just learning about these cabinets today and reading the last 20 pages or so of this thread. My main gigging cabinet has been a Bag End D10BXD the last several years....love her but she is heavy. I also own an Acme B2 cabinet which i think has an amazing studio quality sound but i could never get that cabinet to work well for me live if there was no PA support. Anyone have any experience with either of these cabinets next to the BB2? Thanks!

My One 10 is here!!! It arrived at work and I didn't have my gear with me today so I couldn't demo it. Just got it home and WOW!!! I'm a happy man. The plugged in sound is HUGE, much bigger than I was even hoping for. It's a great match for my Carvin BX250 and I'm just starting to play around to find out the settings I prefer.

When I sent my wife a pic of the cab, she remarked that it was smaller than she expected. When she heard it, she said "it must be bigger on the inside". No joke. (gotta love having a whovian/geek wifey)

Pictures will come later but for now I'm having too much fun playing to bother with a camera.

I bought some of the first Series 2 Low-B2s back in 1999 and gigged them for years! I wore the woofers out from abusing them with 900W/cab and many FX and was basically waiting for Andy to release his neo 12"s when I started messing around with designing my own cabs. They certainly inspired the original Big One and its descendants.
