This is a late 1990s BB75 (Bunny) in Blueburst. 2 band eq, 2 humbucking Js (I haven't had time to check the pickup covers yet but I believe they must be H50N pickups since those were all that existed in those days). alder, maple, the standard Bunny design in every way. appears to be 1 piece neck through.

Graphic fretboard, absolutely flawless mint condition in my humble opinion after years of buying/selling used instruments.

IT SOUNDS INSANE! I LOVE the aggressive tone of this thing, way more aggressive even than my EBMM basses! holy moly! And very low action that's perfectly setup, b string is literally perfect and identical in tone transition to the E in the way the E is to the A and so forth.

I swear I put it in the case, plucked the strings, went to get coffee, came back with my latte, touched the body and the tone is still decaying... talk about sustain!

After owning only 2 band EBMM basses I am perfectly happy with the 2 band eq on this baby.

Can I please have a number? I think this will become my new #1 bass (out of several excellent basses in my collection).

Just got the fretted green AC50,because i was so blown away by the AC40F. Put a set of new Labella white tapewounds on it,which give it quite an edge sonically. I took it to practice last night,played through my Markbass cmd121p combo with the Tech 21 VT pedal,and it was both very full sounding,with a clanky edge that didn't make me miss my RIC! When i bought it,it had Rotosound tapes on it,which really sound good for that deep reggae dub sound,those might end up on my ac40,though the standard Labella's are hard to beat. I am very happy with both these basses,my only teeny complaint is that the 5 string IS a bit of a neck diver. And i'm not crazy about battery operated electronics,but they do sound great.
I think i'm ready for a numba!

Does anyone know if you can order an LB bass with the SB preamp/passive tone control instead of the stock preamp?

Since they're already available with the J99's, I would think the SB preamp would sound really good in it.

I am about 99% certain that the LB series basses can only be ordered with the variable mid preamp with no passive control. The Bunny and Icon also come with that preamp. The knobs are in a different configuration, so I don't think it would able an easy swap. The preamp in the LB, Icon and Bunny was their newest preamp until the SB basses came out with the new pre with passive control. It is configured to fit in a smaller control cavity, so as to fit under a Jazz Bass style control plate.

Anyway, a call to Carvin would answer the question. Maybe it could be done as an option 50 request.

I agree that the passive tone control in active mode is a great feature!
