They look to be in standard P position.
Looks that way to me, too. I think if you start messing with that P pickup "sweet spot" the results can be too boomy or muddy. I'm sure Carvin tested/proto'd this bass to death before committing to the final product.

Question for you. Will you be A/B testing your kick-butt custom Carvin P5 vs the new PB5? I think your ax will definitely give this Carvin newbie a run for its money. Already I can attest that your bass wins in the good looks department.
lol. I was told about the P pickup in conversation when I placed the order for my SB. He told me it was kinda on the hush-hush though, so I kept quiet about it... I'm also glad they finally released the news!

Doubtful. I am totally set for P's and P/J's at the moment, so I can't really see the point in buying another. I'll try and make it to a Carvin store and play it. But the odds of me giving up my Wilkins P and P/J pickups are about the same as me running in and winning The Kentucky Derby. In heels.

Word from Carvin on their Forums is that they are going to be releasing the split pu bass in a kit version. FYI.
I just bought a Carvin! Used... probably from someone who also is a member here, although it was a CL find/purchase.
Insane deal, thank you SO much to the seller for doing business nicely and efficiently and for taking such great care of your instrument.
This is a late 1990s BB75 (Bunny) in Blueburst. 2 band eq, 2 humbucking Js (I haven't had time to check the pickup covers yet but I believe they must be H50N pickups since those were all that existed in those days). alder, maple, the standard Bunny design in every way. appears to be 1 piece neck through.
Graphite fretboard, absolutely flawless mint condition in my humble opinion after years of buying/selling used instruments.
IT SOUNDS INSANE! I LOVE the aggressive tone of this thing, way more aggressive even than my EBMM basses! holy moly! And very low action that's perfectly setup, b string is literally perfect and identical in tone transition to the E in the way the E is to the A and so forth.
I swear I put it in the case, plucked the strings, went to get coffee, came back with my latte, touched the body and the tone is still decaying... talk about sustain!
After owning only 2 band EBMM basses I am perfectly happy with the 2 band eq on this baby.
Can I please have a number? I think this will become my new #1 bass (out of several excellent basses in my collection).

Yeah, I have an LB70 with the H50N pickups and 2 band preamp. IMO, it consistently outperforms much more expensive and "highly reagrded" basses that I have picked up through the years.
Long story but suffice it to say there's a "Carvinite League of Justice" being formed over on the Forums. Guys who know me well on there know of my siiiiick fretless they built for me, and the nick I use there - same as here. What do I see when I get on the Carvin BBS tonight?

That is amazing. It would be cool if you sent him a couple bucks and asked him for the full-size version so you could get a print made and frame it.
