Yeah, congrats on that. You got it paid off and at your house yet? Great deal indeed. I kind of wish mine was the natural one, but I'm cool with the black. I keep coming real close to having to sell mine off for financial reasons but thankfully it hasn't come to that quite yet, and I hope it doesn't. That's how I lost my last one.

I do really like these LE Epis.

Got a LE Epi Ripper a couple of days ago. Was offered to buy an original Gibson 75 Grabber for 6000 Swedish kronor (about $700) but then a ran across a used LE Ripper @ my local music store for 2500 SeK (about $300) and bought it instead. Really nice bass, I really dig the P/J-config. It´s the biggest bass, and it´s got the chunkiest neck I ever played, but i love it! It´s a real bad boy! Will take som time getting used to play it, since I´m used to playing a Fender P-bass Special with a jazz neck.

I got a cheap gigbag from Thomann´s own brand (I think all european musicians know about Thomann) and it fits perfectly!

Hello! I have a late 90's Epiphone Ripper, natural finish w/ the one pickup only, volume and tone knob. Over the years it's been dropped often (not always by me!) and as a result two of the tuners snapped off. At the time I simply attached key rings to them which did the job, now I'm taking it a bit more seriously and I'd like to completely upgrade the Tuners/Machine heads.

i was wondering if anyone has done this as well and could recommend a good set? I don't wanna break the bank either, maybe around $50?

Just picked one up with the P/J config needs a little work(new tuners, maybe some shielding, has a wicked buzz) but it's pretty cool. Neck is pretty fat. Seems like the brass nut is not glued in at all... is that normal?

I decided to do a full overhaul on this one. Just ordered new tuners, a new bridge, some shielding, replacement screws for the rusty ones... trying to decide if this will become my active bass... maybe drop an EMG PJ set in it...

Just picked one up too!
Played it at one rehearsal so far.
Pretty chunky neck but still comfortable.
Just because its has P/J pickups doesn't mean it sounds like a Fender P.
The P pickup is a little closer to the neck than on my P bass so creates more of a boom.
I think when they designed this bass they still wanted it to sound "similar" to a Gibby. IMO.
Might throw in some Dimarzios when I get the $'s together.

The strings that were on it were some really worn down flatwounds, the action was all over the place, so i couldn't really gauge the sound. I'm going to get it set up properly and strung up with some nickels to see how the pickups are.

The neck is indeed chunky. Hopefully I can deal with it...

Blast, I had to be a vintage loving fool and get vintage-looking tuners. They are way too big for the headstock! Going to have to go to a sealed gear type of tuner instead.

While I was screwing the pickguard in... I did wonder one thing... why does this bass have both individual volume controls AND a switch? Just because it can? Or am I missing some logical reason?

1998 Epiphone Ripper. Only ding was on the bottom by the controls. Pretty great shape. I think it had the original strings on it. They had red thread and were snappy and similar to the ones that come on the SX Basses. I slapped a set of chromes on her and she defo has some booty. Anyway, here she is in all her glory.

I really like the wood grain pattern on that Epi you got there.
Although something looks a little bit weird to me on the right side of the body near the pickguard...it looks like the body was shaven a little bit. Maybe it's just me...

I just wish it had the black headstock instead..

I see it too, but you know what it is? It's that light-colored blade of grass near that side of the body making an optical illusion. Weird.
