the ease of installation for one.. the tone is awesome.. a nice vintage but hod rodded p bass tone.. its a straight forward set up.. volume volume tone controls. its also a versatile system.. ive played metal to praise and worship with these pickups.. in fact.. ill be using the geezer pups for worship at church soon. there was somethin that i noticed as well.. i had been messing around with some songs not long ago.. when the volume on the bass turned a 1/4 to 1/2 up.. its a nice and smooth sound.. but past that to full volume you get that vintage growl geezer is known for..
and for the system being passive.. it punches with the feel of an active system output.. these pups are loud when needed..
I couldn't afford the FB4 but the wife did get me the FB204 (frank bello sig). I've since modded it to as close to the FB4 as I could. Inlay stickers (trapezoids, not blocks), chrome hardware, high mass new/old stock high mass bridge from ebay and the EMG PJx (awesome btw) pickups. Just a great take on a Fender PJ bass. The neck's a bit chunky and took a little getting use to but now I'm completely comfortable with it and actually think it suits the bass and doesn't slow down playability. Out of the box it was a great bass, the mods (namely the pickups and bridge) took it to that whole "other" level. Played many shows with it since Aug 14 and recorded a 12 song LP that we're still working on (vocals) and it recorded great. Again...those EMG PJx pickups are "lively"....fairly hot but with a passive not so cold tone I usually associate with EMGs.

Thanks, that's just what I was wondering. As pickups go, it's actually a fairly reasonable price for a set. It'd be great if I could find a GB signature bass to try out somewhere to get a feel for the sound. Hopefully Lakland will have a GTG this year and I can get some hands-on experience.
they have a lot of midrange but also a great focused and tight bottom end

im glad i can help you buddy.. you really wouldnt need an actual geezer sig bass.. i run these pup in my esp vintage 214 bass.. and i get geezers tone with no problem..its like i said.. emg really hit a grand slam with these pups.. and to be honest with ya.. i was never a proponent for anything "signature".. best decision i made with the emg signature geezer butler p/j.. oh ! fun fact.. click your link to the emg geezer .. select the pj set.. and click artists

My son and I have a few LTD guitars. No basses though. The pair of EC500's are mine and the EX200 and Snakebyte are Jr's.
Need your help guys. Picked this old guy up pretty cheap from a pal in town. I'd always heard 80's ESP was killer so I threw some $ at it. Allegedly was owned by a famous bassist who I won't name because I'm not that kind of guy. Pretty cool though. Tele head. Brass nut. P/j layout. The back of the neck is also painted which is pretty bad ass. The serial has been scratched out which again I heard was done so as not to link it back to that player. Anyway I'm not sure what model I have here etc. figured you all could help. I'm cleaning and buying a replacement tuner for it so I haven't gotten to give it a run yet. It's a player with lots of wear. Lots of mojo I'm hoping, too.

Here's my LTD B-55, also posted in the "Show Your Basses" thread. Love this thing! My wife bought it for me as a birthday present. My son was in a band, and he hired a kid to play bass, who was a killer bassist, but needed equipment. I agreed to let him borrow this one. Well, the band fizzled, and the kid disappeared. But not before thinking it would be sick to duct tape his strap onto the body of the bass, using the cheapest, stickiest duct tape imaginable. I got the bass back, and it was a mess with sticky tape residue, the knobs were jacked up on it, and the input jack was hanging out of it. My son did the best he could with the tape residue and I finished that job, tightened up the knobs and got them to working right again, and installed the input jack back into place. This bass just kills, and while I am pissed off at this kid my son entrusted my bass with, I am damned glad she is home and back in the right hands.

Fretno that is a beauty. I loves me some blue, and that blue talks to me. What is the name of that blue? ( It talks to me, but it wouldn't tell me what shade it was)
Has anyone seen a old LTD like this, 80s Japan maybe? if so a ball park value?
