Right on. Bass was waiting for me yesterday when I came home from work. Much to my surprise, it came with a pretty nice gig back with the new ESP logo on it. I'll put up some pics when I can. I gotta build me a new bass rig and then lastly, get some EMG's in this thing. I really did the maple fingerboard with no position markers and the string through body. Here's the website photos in the meantime...

Joining the club... just pulled the trigger on one of the B-1005 fanned frets. Should be here Thursday.

Going to be cool to have a nice bass again... sold off my nice basses a couple years back during a financial crunch (A Pedulla 5 and an Alembic 6 string fretless). I'm mostly a guitar player but been getting back in to bass. Kept my Highway One P-Bass but, well, it's a 4 string P-Bass so it's not the most tonally flexible instrument.

I bought a Strandberg 8 string guitar last year, and am a huge believer in multiscale these days. Had my eye on the Dingwalls, but just couldn't justify the money. The ESP at $1399 is a lot easier to swallow.

Dumb question, but who makes the electronics for ESP? I have an LTD Vintage-214 and the pickups and electronics are far superior to anything else in that same price range. I'd love to get a set of j pickups and a V/V/T electronic setup from them and put it in my jazz bass.

When I swapped the pups out of my Vintage 214, I found that the P-bass pup at least (probably the J too) were by "G&B"
LTD 214 Vintage innards. G&B pup?
Since then I've discovered that G&B makes a range of OEM pickups for a variety of makers, mostly toward the middle and lower end of the spectrum.

As it happens, I upgraded my Vintage 214 with the EMG Geezer set. I think it was quite a bargain at $140 for the P and J, and a full solderless wiring harness. Great classic/vintage tone and super easy install. The original pups were good pups and high output. The EMG's aren't quite as loud/strong but they sound better. Also, the EMG has a hum canceling J, so there's no hum worries.

Word is that EMG is working on a classic Passive J setup, so maybe you want to look that way?

You sold a B-4E? Man I am sorry! ;) I acquired mine from a fellow TBer, and I don't know how he isn't full of regret... I don't know how anyone can look at and then play this bass, and ever want to put it down--let alone sell it! Neck-thru with that stunning laminate, string-thru with hi-mass bridge, black chrome hardware, beautiful multi-tone wood and ebony top, all perfectly capped with a satin finish; I absolutely love everything about this bass.

Any recommendations on what strings to put on a PT-4 Pancho, curious as I just slapped a
Set of power flats from SIT as I find the bass to really empathize the treble from it..
I hope this is the right spot to post this? If not then I hope the mods here move it.

It's an active P/J. Pretty versatile. What kind of sound are you looking to get?
