Official Exquisite/Glarry/Burning Fire Bass Club?

Before I’m torched for stirring the pot, I should tell you that this was not one I bought from robhe8875.

As I was reading through this thread it became apparent that these super cheapies just may not get delivered.

I had already been bitten by the Glarry bug and inspired by others here. I had also been wanting to try messing around with a fretless so just a few days later I ordered up a more “expensive“ model Glarry with no frets and a natural wood color.

It arrived a couple of days ago just six days after I ordered it.

It looks just like all the others you’ve seen so I’m not posting any pics yet.

The finish looks pretty good. The neck looks straight and the fretboard looks rather nice, but there is a little bit of a ripple on the back of the neck where the third fret would be. Some light sanding over should fix that.

The nut and string action was sky high once I tightened the strings. Some filing and I expect a shim might be needed based on other reports.

Oh yeah, I plugged it in and it didn’t work!

After rattling the cord around in the jack I was able to get some sound. Something going on in there. Then it came through loud & clear.

The volume & tone pots seemed to work ok. It’s neck heavy for sure, but that body is so light. Wow.

The bass is about what I expected so I’ll see what I can do to make it playable.

"So I quickly jumped on eBay & ordered two different colors from robhe8875 and the excitement began. In a couple of days I had the “shipped” notification only showing on eBay with a delivery date of Mar 6 to Mar 14."

Um, this was posted, by you, just 5 hours ago. In the future, I would probably get my stories straight before trying to squirm out of a hole, just saying. Enjoy your bass and feel free to enjoy other areas of the forum. I would suggest you not post here any longer. Thank you for your understanding.

If you have any questions, feel free to message me privately.

A Message from the Coronavirus

Jeff Vander Clute, 8 March 2020

There has been a lot of talk about the Coronavirus. When I connected with this novel life form and asked it to tell me about itself, what came through was a list of its top gifts, followed by a message for humanity. I was somewhat surprised, and also comforted, by the information. My hope is that these words will help people to relax and trust that life is acting with benevolent wisdom.

The gifts of the virus:
- Slowing down humanity’s frenetic activities
- Activating networks of cooperation
- Spreading helpful DNA
- Upgrading humanity’s immune system
- Creating the conditions for peace and well-being
- Saving lives, especially over the long term, by strengthening the web of life

Here is the message for humanity, from the Coronavirus:

My friends, it is true that I am here to bring closure to the inharmonious ways of being that are causing harm to humans and the whole web of life. All the same, I am not a vengeful being or anything that is intended to be destructive. I am simply the rebalancing agent in the overall equation of life’s evolutionary process. By fighting me with fear in your hearts, you oppose the larger natural systems and cause me to take other forms.

What I am, and my fundamental purpose, will not be deterred, for I am life itself acting through the available forms of distribution. The virus that you see me as is one of an endless series of permutations. This kind of process is one of the ways I innovate life forms and deliver new DNA sequences that will eventually be shown to be helpful. The back and forth between humanity’s collective immune system and the virus is raising consciousness as humans examine their interactions, and it is literally increasing the intelligence of the superorganism that is the species as a whole.

These tests are normal. I repeat: These tests are normal. For those who can hear this message and embrace me easily, you already know that fear is a much more lethal poison. For those who will not be comforted by these words, one day you will know that I come as an act of love. When you can open to the love that is at the very heart of this situation, the crisis that your media and governments decry will transform into a flower of life, spreading new consciousness and multiplying circles of cooperation.

Pay attention to your thoughts and see if you can identify the benefits of redirecting humanity’s attention from incessant wars and violence to the common “enemy” that I am willing to be perceived as.
Love will go this far, and farther, to bring healing to the mind of a young species that is still in the process of remembering itself as a divine incarnation.

Yes, you are a divine incarnation capable of fabricating realities based on goodness and beauty and compassionate understandings, actions, and beliefs. Believe me when I say that I, too, am here as an act of compassion. Accepting me in this way will lighten your heavy burden, for the divine sends only love your way.

Sometimes this love takes curious forms in order to circumvent your intricate defenses against waking up to your own glory. I can assure you that the most functional strategy will be to embrace me as a friend of the human family.

This is excellent, Eats! Thank you for sharing. I work tirelessly to promote mindful living (being in the moment), but alas, it is an ongoing struggle in today’s life. Thank you again for sharing!

I'm just a guest on this page. (Although was fixing to join on the cheap) I like a joke, sarcasm, to laugh (at myself too)

I don't think it's particularly funny to mislead TB members with the ongoing eBay fraud. Whether with misleading posts or entering false info on a poll.

There is absolutely no evidence of anyone receiving a $20 or less bass. I can laugh at myself for the purchase, for the adventure, but am not going mislead others.

If anyone is looking, the hits keep coming. If you've read my posts in other threads, the scammer robhe8875 has netted at least $30,000 (after eBay and PayPal fees)

I hope everyone goes after their refund!

Very well said, playbear. I’m still wondering if @B Dax got his basses from the fairy dust magic of Robhe8875?:spam:

Huh???

Read the first sentence of my above post #2341 again.

I purchased a regular priced fretless from another seller.

It needs some work, but that’s why I bought it as a project bass.

I did let the seller know about it not working out of the box (wiring/jack issue.) They just sent me a link to the Glarry website showing a picture and instructions for welding the wires to the output jack.

I gave them good feedback and moved along since it looks to be worth keeping otherwise.

Well this post that you wrote initially would certainly lead everyone to believe that you got a bass that you ordered from the robhe8875 seller on eBay. Which you later said you did not. I’m not sure why you would come in and post that you got one from that seller when you didn’t. Maybe it was just poorly worded and it wasn’t your intention to say that, but it sure seems like that’s what you were saying.

I think it's fair to say that he potentially may have netted that amount. But unless you have inside knowledge about the measures eBay takes to protect themselves and how effective those have been in this particular case, it's all speculation.

I'm sure that eBay deals with scams regularly and I suspect they have protective policies in place.

Yes, hopefully everyone will follow the simple refund procedure.

Yes potentially.

I don't know all the inside eBay facts, but I did have an eBay store for several years.

So far eBay hasn't cancelled all the transactions and issued everyone refunds. It's case by case at this point.

Robhe was a legit seller long enough so that the money isn't held. Robhe could transfer money out of PayPal before the scam hit with the long shipping times. eBay and PayPal will charge back the accounts/credit cards you link, but that's not hard to isolate with another transfer of funds.

Even if the money was held, Robhe is only going to lose the money/sales disputed at this time.
