Thanx for the info. Yeah its strange indeed if its a cost effect model since it has vintage correct tuners wich other then JV Fender models have not. Its a fantastic looking and playing bass

Hi guys, anybody got a clue which type off bass this is. It sold to me as a APB-4, but it's active, is it a APB-90? Or a FRB-75. I really can't figure out.
It's active, has a rosewood fingerboard, gold hardware, there's no brand name on the bridge and graphite adjustable nut (or is this standard?).

I recently picked up this FRB-95. I posted looking for any info on it before I bought it and I didn't get even one reply. There was only one post I ever found about it from 2012 with the guy looking for anyone who knew anything about it back then, and he also got exactly zero replies. It's surprising that there is so little info on Fernandes' to be found. Anyway, the catalogue picture below is from 2001 and has my FRB-95 along with the 4 string FRB-85. These basses don't have the neck heel truss rod cut outs on the body. All of the Fernandes FRB (APB?) basses I've seen have that body cut out. I wonder if those are older models, perhaps, and it seems odd that Neo's would be an FRB-90. I surely don't have any real knowledge, though.

Thanks, but the the FRB90 is a 5 string bass, and the FRB80 a four string. I have a four string. The APB90 is more likely.

That's interesting, Becko. Do you know what year that catalogue page is from? So the FRB 85, 95 & 105 are out of the 2000-2002 catalogues, and don't have the body routs at the neck heel. The FRB 80, 90 & 100 have the routs, which I deduce means they're earlier models. Now I can make sense of the model number progression chronologically.
Any info on this beauty, date of manufacture, model name?

I've searched the catalogs and can't find exact bass , To me it looks to be a 4-string version of an FRB-100 or FRB-90 JJ (body= light ash , tuners Gotoh , adjustable nut , bridge BB-40G , Made in Japan anywhere from 1993-1997 , Also similar to 1993 FRB-180 with standard gold knobs and not the stacked black ones . That's all I have for now , Hope that helps some - here's my 1997 APB-90M I got from original owner
Those black knobs are Seymour Duncan knobs, so it probably has a Duncan preamp, as the pickups are Duncan's too
Can anyone help me with info on my Fernandes Jazz Bass? It is made in Japan. I am wondering if a normal Fender pickguard will fit on it. If not does anyone know a source that would have this template? Does anyone know roughly what year it is from? Also, what did they call this color? It has made in Japan engraved on the neckplate. Thanks!
I sold exact bass a while back : mid 1990s maybe 95-96 Fernandes LEB-2N in ocean torquoise -made in japan , Except for the unique shaped headstock it closely resembles a 1960s style Fender jazz bass including the exposed bridge to bridge pickup ground wire , Great feeling neck and good sounding pickups , Not sure about the pickguard swap I would search that question online also - here was mine Edit: your color may be a copy of fender sherwood green , hard to tell from pics

Gutted the electronics in my Nikki Sixx. Two fat pole pups...a stacked kmob with volume/tone and a 3-way pickup switch.
Sounds wayyyy better and obviously, added some much needed versatility (vs only the one volume knob it came with)!

Hey all. I picked up an Atlas 5x through a craigslist trade yesterday. I was pretty pumped to get it home and try it out. Unfortunately I'm just not loving it. Looks and plays great but I'm not finding a tone I enjoy. I'm considering putting in a 2 band preamp and seeing if that will fatten it up.
The guy had DR Black Beauties on it, that may be contributing to the tone. I've never used those strings, maybe I'm just not liking the strings more than not liking the bass in general.

Love the look of that bass. DR black beauties have always been underwhelming from a tonal perspective to me. They are dull and just don't ring. Must be the anodizing process or something. Try new strings first for sure!
