What did you watch? Last night we watched Le dîner des cons, which is an oldish French movie. It was fabulous and so funny I almost lost it, then we watched Back to The Future, which was funny in a wholly different and kinda painful way.

Yup. US Bob GlaubI'll take some better pics tomorrow, but this bass is sweet. What an incredible neck. And it is now my lightest bass, slightly lighter than my Metro. Oh, and i'd love a #.

Yep ... that was about the time the i loaded it up and drove away.
After emailing brian at Lakland, not more than 15 minutes pass and i get a call from him(talk about awesome customer service). According to him, everything checks out with the specs and info i gave him to a US made 4-94. The bass is made back in 1997. 174th 4-94 made with barts.
So i rushed to GC hollywood and saw the bass in their Used Gear section. Amber translucent quilt with a beautiful birds-eye maple neck. For a 12 year old bass, it is in pretty good shape. a few nicks and dings on the neck and back of the body but nothing major. No fishman battery cavity, must be an old design. The bass has been used but not abused. Normal drit/grime here and there ... a restring and cleanup should do the trick.
So i decided to pick it up. Everything worked out great. only thing is that the case is a generic black case. Not sure if it is a lakland case but it looks like the US cream case but just in black with no markings. Luckily I got a US case from blondmix with the sale of his DJ4-AC.
BTW, I asked the guy at GC more info on the bass. They got it from the Modesto, CA store on Friday. And it was basically sitting in Modesto since march of 2007. I guess no one in Northern CA would like a Lakland.He then said that's why they are selling it so cheap since the de-valued it to get rid of it.
With that said, i'll probably try it out this weekend in one of our gigs and then send it out to Lakland for a LH3 upgrade and a factory setup. It should be as good as new.
I'll post pics once i get it restrung with the rest of the stable.

Unfortunately, there's just a couple of mom and pop's and a GC. Definitely nothing worthy of having Laklands

All your counterarguments looked great, too, everyone.
I think the main disadvantage of tort's flashiness is that it only goes well against non-colors like white, black, or khaki.
I've seen so many photos of blue, green, and even red basses with tort, and it's just so off-putting to me..

hey man...its all good......go offense EVER here....we just like to discuss the finer points....pick guards are a very personal thing....
Would that put you at 8 by the end of the year (the current 6 plus the LOGBG5CS plus that)? You'd have a bigger inventory than most Lakland DEALERS!!!! I'm certainly not saying there's anything wrong with that, just sayin'.
