p.s. I put Tung Sol 12AX7s in my TB, and it rocks! So much better! I am trying to get my hands on some old Telefunkens to try out, $100 dollars is a lot for some tubes that may or may not be shot because of their age

I tried using my Zon Sonus with the passive mode of the amp, but I found it too distorted for my taste, but to be fair, I didn't play around with it much. Maybe if you tweak it you can get a great sound out of it.

I also changed the tube, but for a Electro Harmonix, I think it sounds better now. Next time it needs changing I will try a Tung Sol tube.

Since 1990 I have been nothing but an SWR man, love the sound. But every now and then would like that old school interactive passive tone stack that only a tube amp can provide. Two weeks ago I finally stumbled onto an AD200B and Orange 810 cab in a music store and had to see what all the fuss was about. Wow, it took me back to my days with my Sunn Model Ts I ran in the 70s. Not being one to want tube amp maintaince and weight, I compaired the Terror Bass 500 through the same 810 cab. A winner! Same tube preamp, actually I was able to get more gain out of the Terror pre than the AD. It will meet my tube needs and sounds great through my SWR Workingman 2x12 (beefed up to 4 ohm, 1000W). This amp is great, not too big, not too small, best micro amp out there. Won't replace my SWRs, but a great alternative for old school sound, never found a stomp box that did it right. Please set me up with a number, love to be part of this group. Any suggestions for preamp tubes? I have found JJ, Mullard, and GT-M work well in my SWRs.

Damn, I should have checked to see if there was orange club!! I've had my AD200b Mk3 for two months now and love it! I run through a 4x10 Orange cab. For smaller work I have the Orange Crush 100BXT. Love the Ad200b!

Ok, no indicators to which tube is first stage and which is second stage. Looking at the front of the Terror Bass, is first stage on the left or right side? The English gain knob is on the right rather than the American style of on the left. Any answers out there? Schematic in manual was no help.

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't stage 1 valve the one closest to the input jack?

It seems correct. I have installed a 5751 and really like the results. Takes some of the edge off the high end gain and makes it more musical. Now I run about 1:00 for light breakup and dial it back to 12:00 or 11:00 for clean tube. Killer head this Terror bass, fat, warm, tube, un-refined!

Hi Dear Orange owners!
I`m planning to join your club in a near future (something about 6 months i suppose) I`m thinking about Orange combo Orange TBC500...Thing is that I would like to hear from you what do you think about it? from the price point of view...the difference between combo and some Terror Amp + cabinet isn`t that big...so I might as well go for the second option...I would be grateful for some reviews on Orange Combo expecially...I`m kind of new to Amps buying and Amps in general :P so talk to me like to 5 year old :) thanks a lot :)

Sorry I haven't tried the combo, but I use a 500 watt Terror bass with a SP 212 and sounds amazing!!! Whenever I need a little more volume I add a OBC 115 cab. Good luck!!!
