There is a new track on my soundcloud recorded with Apogee ;)
Didn't get the time to post it, but I'll do it later.

You should do two tracks with the same settings and play the same tune for both. one with irig and one with apogee for a quick a/b comparison. I'm would think the apogee will sound better and cleaner ( less hiss and stronger dynamic) but it would be good for documentation sake.

Indeed!

In the meanwhile:
Part one: B15R with X chorus
Part two: B15R with the new Metal Distortion and delay
Part three: Marshall (Lead) with the original 15" cab.

Looking forward for some clips of Slash bass! :)

Here are 2 more clips I've recorded while testing the Apogee Jam: Beware, I've played without a pick on both clips, and on a Westone THunder 1A fretless on one clip.... so way out of my comfort zone..... :hiding: :D :hiding:

Thanks Rip.
Yes, the Apogee Jam really does well. I also noticed that there is more bass in the tone, and the bass is more controlled and have more dynamic!
I was almost nervous picking up my old 85 Westone Thunder 1A Fretless which I gave to my step-son as he is much more jazzy then me... I as you knows use fingers very seldom!!

On the other track with the Geddy I also used only fingers, but more in the flamenco style, something I do very seldom and should do more.. :)

......im gonna post a total slash bass in about an hour.....using the "you are beautiful" track.....just for giggles :)
who nows it may sound pretty good.

A new one posted ...

The dry track for "you are beautiful" active EQ on bass needs tweaking a bit I think before I process in AT. That's something I really haven't considered.... To get my signal going in as good as I can before turning on all the processing. Also again... I need new strings :( I don't have a music store close by its a long trip to get to one from where I live and work ( a good 45 min to an hour drive) to get bass strings. Guitar strings are all over the place it seems. I might just have to order some online.

Hi guys! I keep following along. You guys are having way too much fun. :bassist:

I gave up trying to make my iRig work for me and have been sort of lurking around for the one magic bullet that will absolutely work with my iPhone 4. I know you guys have mentioned a few options, and I have them on my GAS... er, "wish" list.

I've been spending on basses/pedals/amps and my old laptop (Acer Aspire) just can't keep up... I need to clamp down and save my pennies to upgrade to a more robust PC, get an interface so I can finally use AT, or fork out more green and get AT3 PC version.

Is it you Adam that has an Apple with GarageBand and all that nice gear? I have PC envy now! (And what bass did you use for that dry sample?)

Great sound clips. Keep 'em coming. :bassist:

Yes we are......and thanks.

It may be me, I have a (I think) a 2006 (about time for an upgrade) iMac it has an intel, one of the first ones, but still good enough with the RAM slots maxed out to run GB and AT 3.7 with protools 9HD at the moment. I have the full version of it and the fender and AMPEG SVX . I just don't want to go on stage with it :) it's also my wife's and kid's home computer so no traveling to and fro with it :) it's awesome. I wish I had a good laptop I would consider using it live. .....but the IOS version is so "live" friendly.

I use an Ibanez soundgear sr505

Ooooo now you have brought the bass. ( first track)
(Second track) nice and throaty

Both through the headphones seem to have resonant buzzines or resonant noises(ckckckccczzzzckshsh) of some sort as the note volume dies down :( what is that?
Other than that...... I liked the low fullness. But still clean on the mid side.

Your older posts start with shhhhhhhhhh .....these start with string and bass guitar movement sounds.

Huge improvement in quality. The apogee is obviously a great interface.
How do you listen/output as you play? Through iPad headphone jack?

He he, yes, I've brought the bass player in me.. :)
The buzzines/ resonant on the second track with the Geddy is probably just me or shell we say bad technique... should play more attention to muting the rest of the strings, or jsut resonate tone due to this flamenco technique where I sometimes bang the strings on the fretboard... I'm not a good finger player (even though I'm not a great pick player, yet.. :) )
The output from the iPad is going into my mini mixer and there from to my Ibanez 20W combo (through the Aux bypassing the preamp) or into my headphones (AKG K701/ Beyer DT770M/ Ultrasone HFi580).
I do really like the simplicity of the Apogee Jam. Just as simple as the iRig.

Very cool how much of the hiss is gone. Like ALL of it. Duke, you tend to lean towards overdriven tones, which will always amplify noise and usually add some hiss as well, but the Apogee is really clean. Very impressive.
Adam, I really like your tone on the "Beautiful" piece.

It wasn't fret buzz or technique sounds it was more of a crackeling towards the end of a lot of the notes not like clipping from the attack either it was as the note would fade. I noticed it on the first track more....... Odd

The geddy track was a lot like the other clips but more defined and deep and fuller it sounded awesome. Don't get me wrong it sounded great. I had the headphone turned up big time so I might of just been getting the track encoding sounds (turned into an mp4) from AT and then soundcloud too possibly. I noticed the tracks I hear on my iPad sounds a bit different before its encoded and uploaded to soundcloud.
