Can someone help me out? I'm looking for pickup placement dimensions on a Sonus 5 and Sonus Special 5 (both 34" scale with the skinny pickups). If someone could measure the distance from the 24th fret to the center of the neck and bridge pickups I would really appreciate it. Thanks.

If someone doesn't beat me to it, I can do the Sonus 5 tonight. I don't have my Special anymore, however.

I'll have a look too. My Sonus 5 fretless has different placement than the basses pictured on the Zon website, though.

From 24th Double-Dot to the center of the Neck PU is 2 3/4".

From 24th Double-Dot to the center of the Bridge PU is 6 3/8"

These PU's are the "skinny" kind. Bartolinis. Want pics?

Thanks. If you're talking about the bass you posted a pic of on page 1, the pickups look to be in the right position for a Sonus. Why do you think they are in a different spot?

Has anyone seen something like this before ??
Is it a Custom order or just a modded Sonus Special ?

That was definitely aftermarket. Looks like the neck pickup is original, but as far as I know, Zon never used Bartolini's with two adjustment holes, so the bridge/mid pickups appear to have been added later. The kitty-corner rusted screws in the neck pickup are an added clue that they are probably original. I don't think they have done that switch placement, either.

They have built basses with three mag pickups before, though. This one technically has four pickups total- it has a piezo-equipped bridg in addition to the mags!
