No, unfortunately the new BG wasn't ready in time. It has a very special preamp that wasn't quite ready... It's still under wraps but it's unlike anything we've ever done.

As soon as it's ready and both Billy and Joe are happy with it, you guys will be the first to know. Promise.

oh man. that's cool. a new model? interesting. same look?

i'm still waiting on my BG4. taking forever it seems. was told on 01/12/12 it was shipping  i'm guessing they had to get ready for NAMM?

BTW, that three pickup Legacy is out of this world. How is it wired?
It also wasn't quite done, but when finished, it'll also have a three position switch (that's the piece that was not yet installed). Each position is a different pairing of 2 of the three pickups, and the blend control works between the selected pair. There is no position where all three pickups are on. The the preamp is standard controls.

How did it sound compared to a standard, humbucker equipped Legacy Elite?

I didn't even try to play it. I assumed since the wiring wasn't finished, it wasn't functional, and even if it was, it wouldn't be the correct experience. That said, "it's a Zon", so you can read a lot into that, at least. :)

Hehe, I've been a volunteer at booths at music fairs for four years, and I know how the weeks before the show can be, unfinished instruments and everything...

Sometimes a bass had a fault that wasn't discovered until the first (prospective) customer plugged it in... :D

Just got my first Zon today. Already completely in love with the tone. The feel off the neck will take some getting used to, but it's not at all unpleasant. Just different. :]

Excuse the pictures, they're all I have at the moment.

Zon Sonus 5 (Standard? Special?)

the necks and fretboards feel hard and very ridged. almost like when you press your finger on the string/fret its like a hard porcelain. not like wood. yeah some people who have played my zon said it felt way different.

Yeah, that bass had me reaching for my wallet! :help: Good thing it was already sold. Or was it a good thing... :eyebrow: :(

Joe had a slew of killer basses at the show. I was drooling for that Sonus behind the Legacy... well, and for the Legacy,.. and the TJ5 fretless! Incredible craftsmanship all the way around and that's even before hearing the first note. I'm glad they had sold tags. Kept me from thinking of how to round up a wad of cash!

Yup. Joe's basses consistently kill. I have a Legacy in the works with Joe, myself. :D

519 was going to be my first choice but my Emperor covers that niche nicely. Plus I'd rather have the composite neck for my 6 string solo work.

I think if I hit the lottery I'd order one of everything they offer :)
