Not to rub it in, but I played that redwood Sonus at Zon years ago and it is amazing. One of the nicest sounding zons I can recall.
I may have spoken to you before... not sure... you tell me. I got that bass through Adrian Garcia (RIP, bro) completely on a whim. At some point much later, I communicated with someone who had been at the shop or maybe even worked there at the time who told me they remembered it and was as impressed with it as I continue to be. Kinda' cemented my relationship with it. :)

Update on the DR colored strings like Black Beauties. They are indeed nickel wrapped (Sun Beams). I spoke w Steve my contact there when ordering more strings and he confirmed that they are not High Beams.

I've always used them on my Fretless basses because of the warmth of the nickel content.

Wow, I didn't expect that.
Thanks for the info buddy :)
I may well have a go on these again soon then.

Cheers,
Eude

I believe that was me. I worked there when it was built, and it had something *extra going on for sure. I'm only now realizing that Adrian was the original owner. He was a fantastic guy and great player. Sorely missed.

Truth!!!! :(

Yeah, he actually ordered that for his own personal use, because he spec'd the upgraded 3-band with mid switch (I think that's two separate upgrades). But he was not real good on money, so he often ended up putting his personal orders in his "store" for resale... sometimes pretty quickly. I honestly don't even think he had a chance to gig mine before he flipped it to me. The Zon Sonus Special fretless 5 I had at one point (and still insist is the best fretless I've ever touched) was also one of "his". I later flipped it tho, because I play fretless so infrequently I couldn't justify keeping it.
