Oh Boy...Do I need Help.

Proud new owner of a Boss G.T.-10B here, and I have no idea what to use for an amp.I've little experience on bass, though will be getting together with new bandmates in just weeks.Wattage, speakers, combo or head ? No clue- $?-300 to 600 all I have left. I'll invest more $ on something better this summer/fall.Please help with your suggestions! I play a P-bass.We'll be doing classic rock.We play bars, not clubs.I'm just trying to reproduce the sound I hear in the headphones.(ya Iknow...good luck) REALLY super ignorant on how something like this sounds through say, a 1-15 compared to a 4-12, or 2-10, or WHATEVER. Please help my ignorant,broke-ass.I play fingerstyle.Tweeterly-do or tweeterly-don't? Again, please help my dumb-ass. thank-you more than you know-

Take GT-10B back and put that $500 with the $300-600 and get a rig.

If you're just playing bars a small head (200-500 watts) should be fine.
And either a single 15, 2 10's, 2 12's, 4 10's....any of those should work great.

And with $800-1,100 to spend, you'll have lots of options for some nice gear.

Buy used in good shape you will get way more for your money. Craigslist is a good place to look. Never meet someone from CL anywhere but a publick place just to be safe.

See my Small Rig thread I just put up. I got it for a song and it will blow your head off with room for more later.

Most combo amps (not all) are not going to give you the Bottom End Thump Goods like a Head Cab rig will.

Pick yourself up a used Hartke Blackfaced HA3500 Head and a nice used 1x15 8 ohm Cab then later add a nice 8 ohm 2x10 Cab and go BAM!

Alos there are other alternatives out there.

Combos I like are SWR Redheads and Eden Metro.

alright thanks-I think I just made my mind up...at least to NOT consider running the GT 10 into a combo amp.

+1.

And don't get a combo - For that money get some good used gear (400RB / old SWR sound like the ticket)

Plus another +1,...bigtime. Also another +1 for not buying a combo amp. And, yet another +1 for buying used gear. That should do it.
