oh man come on

So I got a sweet Thunderbird at a pawn shop. Ordered black beauties, they are just not working out. To thin. I tune to bead. What's a good heavy string that can take this tuning? My t bird sits til I can find a string that fits it right. All my dean V basses accept this tuning w no prob but this t bird is very picky. What do you recommend without having to make truss n bridge adjustments?

You want the bottom 4 strings from a 5 string set.

A standard 4 string set of strings is much too light to detune that much. It will act exactly as you have described. Get a set of 5 and discard the skinny one (G string) And use the remaining 4 strings - B, E, A, D.

And if it wasn't tuned this way before, you will need work done on the nut to fit the strings on it this way successfully. Take it to the local shop and tell them what you are doing, they can get this done easily.
