Oh Man, Someone Failed "Bass String Installation 101"

I know it is, but I'm bravely admitting here on TB that I'm terribly inefficient with it. It's not that I don't like fingerstyle, or P basses. I just can't physically handle either. Haha. I should post my hands for laughs.

See, the trick to muting with picking is anchoring your wrist to either the body or the pickup, depending on your bass. It can really help narrow the field for tricky parts, so to speak. Yet, that can cause your playing to become inconsistent, which opens another conundrum. If you want the Hamm's honest truth about palm muting on a bass? It sounds like schlitz. It doesn't serve any purpose other than sounding like schlitz. Which isn't a purpose, unless you're Pete Wentz.

I guess that just like you learnt to overcome the traditional hurdles in fingerstyle, I did the same with picking. At the crux of it though, I'm originally a singer who had to pick up bass when someone left, and I fell in love instantly.

Haha, yeah I can see the TB crowd sharpening their sticks and preparing the fire for you. Your comment about palm muting made me laugh, because it is true, but also because it reminded me of this guy (who I could listen to rant about anything): ,
