Oh My! CME exclusive shell pink Squier Bronco

As always, I like your basses, but I have to admit that I want those drums. :)

I find no issues with fit or finish. The bridge is no problem and tuning machines hold and feel smooth. Giggable right out of the box. Pickup is great really. Yes, and based upon what so many aftermarket pickup makers seem to offer, all it would take to remedy that situation would be to put more turns of winding on the J pickup, or less on the P pup.

Although in the specs of the Bronco basses the nut is since ever specified as 1.5", I have never ever encountered one with this neck width, all Broncos I know had 1 5/8" nut width (from 2000, 2002, 2006, 2007 and current models in the shop).

1-5/8" translates into 1.625", so definitely not 1.5-ish.

And the pink Broncos are 1.6" or wider, just like the red and black ones are ?

We discussed nut width in the Squier Mini-P bass club thread, because we had discovered first that Fender [and most large retailers en suite] had also originally published incorrectly that the Squier Mini-P was 1.6" at the nut when it was really 1.5", which stopped me from buying one.

I queried Sweetwater about this, they measured one, got back to me and promptly updated their website, and Fender updated theirs shortly afterwards, all within one week.

I reckon that I should ask SW to do the same for a Squier Bronco, now that I've opened a line of communication with a real person there.

Those two models are not the only examples of possible discrepancies which I have found for Fender basses.

One current model of Mustang bass [Vintera series, IIRC] quotes a different nut width spec at Fender than at Sweetwater, and one signature long scale bass [I forget which just now] may have an error in nut width spec on Fender's site.

The whole thing is nuts ! :laugh:

Sorry, I do not know about the pink Broncos, but I doubt, they will be different from the normal ones.

When the Vintera Mustang Bass was announced, the neckwidth in the specs changed several times between 1.5" and 1.625" ahead of the availability. It seemed, that Fender themselves were unclear about which size the correct one was.

I did not know that this had happened, as I was not considering/researching a Mustang bass until after I decided not to buy a Mini-P.

But it does sort of explain how one place settled on one figure, and another on another.

I wonder which it really is ?

I suspect that you are correct about the pink Broncos, but again, I would need to know for sure from somebody who owns one, before trying to source one for myself in/into Canada.
