I particularly like the bit of folded paper on the saddle. Adds a certain vibe.

What's all that string noise about? Clack clack.
Didn't notice the paper!

The string noise sounds like bad technique.
If you can listen to the file with a subwoofer,it tends to go away.
But still...Maybe the piezo is too sensitive.

I did state that the White Nylons were quite lighter in gauge, in the video, and thats what the paper is for, to compensate for the lighter gauge and raise the string a bit without having to shim the saddle, the bass did get the original strings back on it after the demo was recorded.

These kind of basses sound like that. I call it a "percussive" tone. It can be very much used to your advantage (I also play drums). I own a Carvin AC50 fretless and I have labella nylon wrapped strings on it. It's a killer. But this single cut clearly seems a step up from mine. I wonder how much of a step up the price is (mine was about $1200 new) The one thing I wish mine had, but doesn't is a magnetic neck pickup that you can mix in. That allows you to regulate that "percussive" sound. There is a thread somewhere here on TB where someone added that pickup to his AC50 and I downloaded it all to do it to mine someday. I have just have not got around to it yet. I like the fact this this one is shorter scale being 32" in the 5 string.
