Without knowing exactly what the questions were, who were asked, and how they were asked, it's not particularly easy to interpret the numbers. Given that the poll was commissioned by UKTV Gold, I doubt there was much concern about academic rigour.

A couple of their examples of fictional characaters confused for fact are a bit dubious anyway... Does anyone actually know that Arthur was not an historical person?
