that does indeed look very nice !! i've talked to Bud about a four string version , he's got some really beautiful designs ... congrats !!
I saw that in the for sale section. Looks very nice. That headstock is kinda Tobiasesque. We all look forward to a review when you get yoru mitts on her.
Nice score! That's one of the nicest looking I've seen. The inlaid pickguard and body contrast extremely well. I love Budman's designs.
I've also talked to Bud about building a bass, but it looks like it's going to have to wait (money problems ).
Yeah, I love the G&L BUT the spacing is a little tight for me so I just listed the G&L on Ebay... Shame too because other than the spacing, the G&L plays sooooo sweet. Low action, no frett buzz and the flamed maple blue burst option is STUNNING on the G&L. Oh well, off to something else. I can only hope that the LeCompte plays as smoothly and as well as the G&L (but with the wider spacing)!
Man I'm jonesing so bad for this bass, I can't wait. And to think that I almost bought a Pedulla.... (I did almost buy one, but somebody got it first, but I'm more than sure I would have been happy with that also). Also almost got a used FBB, but this came along...
http://www.lecomptebass.com/ By the way, that is the owner's/luthier's real last name (Bud LeCompte).
I'm mainly a four stringer and have no problem with the string spacing on this bass. It's just under 3/4", center to center, at the bridge and has a 1 7/8" nut. The tone is all there too and with the splitter switches there are lots of options. I think you'll get a real kick out of it. She ships on Monday. Have fun with it.
WOW. I usually don't like fruity boutique multi-wood affairs, but that is very classy looking. Beautiful figuring but not flamed or anything overstated like that. Cool shape too. If it sounds as good as it looks, you made a great choice.
